My main town has a fairytale-ish theme and I'm in the process of resetting my second town. It had a Winter theme, but I literally never played it or worked on it because I got... Bored of it, I guess. And I was so tired of map resetting at the time so I took an okay one after 7 straight hours of it. But now, I'm gonna be patient...

Anyway, I don't have any town theme ideas. I know people are doing "beach" themes (I don't understand that at all...? You can't put sand everywhere, but whatever), forest themes, etc, but those just don't interest or intrigue me. Can someone give me some ideas? I need to get ready for planning before I reset, so I know what type of map and villagers I want. I was thinking of like a candy land or dessert/sweet inspired town? I have no idea where to get paths/flags or anything though lol. Any help is appreciated.

I was considering a theme similar to that of Shangri-La but not completely sure how I would go about it if you don't have the properly themed villagers. I think a carefully designed ice desert would be incredible (dead trees) but that's mainly if you intend to keep the town in the winter forever.

My current town is candy land themed. ^^ I made my own patterns but I'm still deciding on everything else. I was going to do a Christmas themed town, though. I thought it would be so cute. A gothic one perhaps. I once saw someone with a 'sweet dreams' theme. That was cool too.

Try a town with a bustling metropolis thing. I've seen this dream town that's supposed to be Boondopolis (AKA Boondox when you donate enough) but it's in full Japanese, except somebody who says "Twitter". Dammit.

Maybe you could go for a seasonal town, like you permanently have it set in one season like fall or summer.

My town is fairytale and I wanted to do a completely different theme in my second town.

I'm still stuck choosing between sweets and winter. The sweets grass patterns tend to be too dark for my liking and I'm not a fan of brown. I wanted to keep some things pink, then I end up making the same town I already have! The winter theme has some amazing paths, but I wonder if I will get bored of it after a while. I'm not the biggest fan of winter, but I do love the illuminated PWP's which I why I am leaning towards that. I just want to do something different. I think it will be a while before I can decide, I'm working on the layout first. I've found some good qr paths and stuff but I will probably end up designing my own for most of it.

Yeah, the one I'm resetting was in the winter all the time.

Yep, the one I'm resetting was always in Winter.

Yeah, it's such a pain >.< Winter towns don't really have much options tbh, that's why I'm leaning towards a candy land type theme

I have multiple sections of my town that are different. Like I have one part that's basically my fruit/bamboo farm, and some farm-like PWPs in it (scarecrow, fence, planning to get windmill), the main area around my plaza/retail/town hall that's more town-like and fancied up, the southern portion that's kinda like a garden, and my cedar forest area with clovers and camping stuff everywhere.

My general theme is rustic with a hint of punk rock. Like it's part old-fashioned, part nature-y, and I may include a music element if possible due to my town's name (Melemia - Mel emia - Song blood). I also used a bit of symbolism with my town involving things like flowers and villager choice, with a bit of my life and background included as well.

If you need ideas, sometimes it helps to look at name ideas for your town before deciding on theme. Like taking words in different languages or root words (like mine) and making a story with it.

Kalel Kitten, I totally agree with what you said. Winter paths etc are fairly samey and I really wanted it just winter themed, not Christmas. I know I would get bored of that quite quickly.

I've been looking at all sorts of dream addresses, but I'm still no further into making a decision and I'm still debating. I did find a very nice sweets themed town. It has patterns, the grass one in particular was very nice. I have a thing about the green being too dark. I think it was this one 2600-4660-8228. It may be of some interest to you.

I have 5 towns, and I tried to go for themes that interest me. For instance, I love Disney, retro cartoons, Christmas, and I always wanted to live on a farm.

My new town that Iv'e been working on has family members as the characters. It's been a lot of fun creating rooms that fit each family member. For instance, my son has a Superman room and my daughter has a butterfly room. The area around their house and the exterior is decorated with their favorite colors.

Thank you so much, I'll check it out very soon!

Why don't you make a poll? I find that a lot of people would rather vote on a poll than post on a thread. :)

If you don't know, you're not forced to choose a theme for your town. It doesn't prevent it to looks nice.
My town doesn't have a theme, but I'm proud of it.

I blame most of ANCL towns for always having the same common theme (fairy theme, zen theme, horror theme, forest theme, candy/food theme, etc) But if you really want a theme that could be nice and original at the same time, I could suggest these different themes :

- Superhero/comics theme (with only superhero and disguised villagers) --> a rather modern city, path, illuminated PPW, colorful and eye-catching houses.

- Arabian Nights theme (like the colorful manga Magi) --> lots of oriental elements, Arabian patterns with a desert area somewhere in the town, it could be a really good theme for a town, and it's pretty unique.

- Detective theme ( reference : Professor Layton / Sherlock Holmes ) --> a intriguing, mysterious and retro town with maybe a bit of steampunk elements and even a (very) bit of horror. A town with a general brown color maybe suited for a autumn season, I think it can be beautiful but it's once again my opinion.

These themes are mostly "boyish" themes but any girl can have a lot of fun with these themes.

I'm a big fan of the trendy theme. I also like space theme.

Right now I'm going for all cats and then I'll probably have a modern/zen theme going on. Not really sure yet.

I was thinking of doing all of one species, but there are so many cute villagers so I end up messing it up xD

I always thought it would be cute to have all four characters have a different color theme.

One could be orange and have orange flowers and orange fruit trees around the house. The exterior and interior would also be orange. Theres a citrus shirt that looks very nice when refurbished on the alpine set. You could also place a manniquin in the house and put the mandarin outfit on it. You could give the character a name that fits the theme. ( not sure if you would want to name them orange, though )

Another could have a pink theme and use peaches and pink flowers around the house.etc, etc.

The characters would also wear clothes that match the theme, and hair colored to match as well.

This theme seems a bit simple, but sometimes simple can be quite nice.
