Too Many Trees

So, I’ve got too many trees because I wanted a woodland themed island. I read somewhere that the max you can have while still having a 5 star island is 220. I have 300, so my island dropped back down to 4 stars.

My question is this: after you get the recipe for the gold watering can at 5 stars, do you still need to keep your island and 5 stars? Because I love how my island looks despite the “over abundance” of trees, and I’d really rather not go and chop 80 down.

You only need to keep 5 stars if you want lily of the valley flowers to spawn.

You won't lose the watering can recipie after your learn it and you can breed gold roses at 4 star with the gold can.

Ahhh, thank you for the clarification! Yeah I have plenty of those, so no need to keep it at five stars. Woo!
