There are so many cycling threads these days. Don't get me wrong, they're great, and I've gotten villagers from them. But there are SO many now that it's hard to know who has what and where to lurk if you're looking for someone specific. It's just a lot to keep up with.

What do you guys think?

(P.S., thanks to all you cyclers, I really have nothing against you)

Well, I don't really know too much about the actual cycling process since I'm not a part of it myself, but I think having a lot of cycling towns is a good thing for people who get their villagers from them. There's definitely more of a chance of getting a dream villager if there's twenty people cycling, as opposed to just five or so cyclers.

I see where you're coming from about getting confused about who has what. I'm obsessed with making lists/notes/charts, so maybe just write down the cycling threads with villagers you like? Cx I started keeping a town for people in the Re-Tail forum that frequently stock items my brother or I need (art, hybrids, etc), so hopefully making lists for cycling town is as simple as that.

Half of the threads aren't that great to be honest. You know which ones to lurk for because the best ones are always on the first and second pages.

I have my favorites. You can look on the threads, see how they handle a situation, see their organization; like the layout of the rules and how they do adoptions, and you can determine by yourself which one is good to follow.

The best cyclers and threads, to me, are the ones who are truly dedicated and have done it for a while are the best threads to follow.

That's more or less what I do. The 'bigger' threads do tend do be more reliable, but it still sucks when another thread had someone you want and you miss them.

I think as long as the threads are reliable it doesn't matter how many there are.

More cyclers means more people get their dreamies :3 as long as they're reliable as said.

I agree. Cycling towns can be EXTREMLY useful if you're dreaming hunting :) I find most are reliable but sometimes I find myself wishing I had a few more pairs of eyes so I can keep up with them :/

Don;t get me wrong, I love cycling threads, i use to have one as well

but now I feel like there are more cyclers than non-cylers.

There are about 9 cycling threads on the first page 0.o but then I'm going to be cycling when I get my second copy - not gonna be a hypocrite haha xD

I'm an active cycler and have been for a few months (I was also the second person to ever start a cycling thread in the Villager Trading Plaza *toots own horn*)

I know what's what, and also know when people won't last very long when it comes to cycling.

I, personally, think the cycling thing has become very saturated lately.. So much so, that villagers are losing their popularity, even ones that are very popular, such as Rosie, Bob, Bam and Skye (in my time, I've almost voided all of these, and I actually voided Bob yesterday)

I love having such a friendly cycling community and chatting with them all, but it is getting a bit much when you can't find a home for a villager who should really be popular enough that they'd be snatched up.

I don't think it's a bad thing, but half of the threads die out within a month or so, or people don't really realise how demanding it can be. I think it's better to have loads of cycling threads where people can get stuff for free, than a spam of auctions, right?

Personally I'm taking a break for a while, for multiple reasons, but I will probably be back sometime soon. I love doing it, but especially when you're an idiot like me and let people reserve villagers, it can get a bit too much when you wake up to like 5 or 6 PMs from people demanding I hurry up with their free villagers that they feel they are entitled too.

The cyclers are lovely, honestly. I've gotten almost all of my villagers from them for free. But people are making new ones which die out so quickly, it's ridiculous.

When I got my second copy I wanted to cycle too but I agree with Melleia, it's very demanding and hard to keep up with so respect for the "real"cycle threads! I stopped my cycle thread because I didn't see how difficult it is to keep up with cycling. Now I just use my second copy to sell/give away/raffle off villagers when I like to but I'm not calling it cycling anymore

I've seen a couple of people try and cycle with their main town too... It's just... not a good idea :/

I don't think there's such a thing as too many cycling threads. It gives room to spread out, and even if you have to check a ton of threads for a certain villager, isn't that better than the villager not being there at all?

The one thing I wish was that the current villager was in all of the cycler's titles. I know it isn't so easy to change it, especially if you're cycling fast. But if I get a free spot, I'll use the search function to look for my desired villager. Last month, you'd find a few cycling towns but lots of posts with people wanting to giveaway or trade. But now, you get almost a whole page of cycling towns and it takes too long to look to see who is the current villager being given away.

Mind you, I love cyclers. I just got my dreamie Jay from a cycling board. And I've sold many many turnips for millions from cyclers. I just wish there was a way to make it easier to see who is the current villager.

That's probably why it looks like there are more threads than there are, because after a month, you can't change the title anymore..

I'm a victim of that, unfortunately. But thanks to the Fair's activities, I suddenly regained passion in playing ACNL again :D I got rid of some of my villagers that way though, but thankfully they weren't my favorites.

I'm a bit sad that there are so many cycling threads, because the best ones (no offense to cyclers) have to void popular ones. I almost had to void Bob! And people don't even look. I constantly look at the "New Posts" options and look at the ones that seem interesting. :/ I wish others would do that too.

Many people do not understand the strain of cycling. People get impatient if you don't get a villager out in time, or if you stop for about a day. You have to keep up with it EVERY DAY, unless you have an excuse. Its stressful. Many people dive in with no idea of what they have gotten themselves into...

And this is why I'm taking a break.
I literally cannot deal with so many people shouting at me on a daily basis. It sounds stupid, but it really did take a huge chunk out of my social life when I used to do it constantly because of the demand.
