Which game do you guys and gals find more entertaining for an extended period of time Fantasy Life or Tomodatchi Life?

Long story short I've played neither and am thinking about getting a new virtual game. I was also considering Super Smash Bros 3DS, but I'm not sure if it's for me so if I do get it I want to get a physical copy so that I could sell it in the future if it's not for me.

I know Tomodatchi Life is a super cute game that involves relationships and whatnot between the Miis that you add to the island. As for Fantasy Life I don't know much about it besides you build up a unique life for yourself in a fantasy world.

Also, if you have any better suggestions other than these games, please let me know. I already own Pokemon X, Pokemon Alpha Sapphire, Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon, Pokemon Art Academy, Animal Crossing New Leaf, Rune Factory 4, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, Harvest Moon A New Beginning, Mario Kart 7, and Mario Party Island Tour.

I have both and love them both!

Tomodachi Life is more the kind of game that you play for a short time every day. You make Mii's of friends or famous people or whoever you want. Then you give them food, clothes, hats, decorate their rooms, favorite expressions and gestures to say and do, and so on. It is much more fun than it sounds from that description. It is amazing how closely the mii's act like the real person acts, and says what the real person would say! Honestly it's like having whoever you want as your friend, with you all the time. At least to me it feels that way.

Fantasy life is more the kind of adventurous game that you want to play intensively for a while. Well, at least I did. It's got a story line that you can follow, with various quests/tasks to complete - - or you can ignore that and do what you want. There are battles but they are easy and you can run away if you want to. You can focus on getting really good at your chosen career, too (I chose angler, and then Paladin to see what that was like - - I haven't tried the rest, yet). I thought it was a terrific game. For me, it started slowly, though. I didn't like it that much at first but it *really* grew on me after about a week.

To me, Fantasy Life is more intense than Tomodachi Life. I don't know which one to recommend. I'd say, buy one of them and start saving for the other one!

I kinda screamed when I saw it.

I'd say to go for Fantasy Life first, if you want a more active experience.

Tomodachi Life is incredibly funny, but there's not much actual gameplay in it.

fantasy life!

I played tomodachi life on my friend's 3ds and got bored really quickly lol unless it goes on sale for like $20 or something then I really don't think its worth the price... gameplay is really repetitive and gets old quickly imo.

Go to gamestop, but Tomodachi life used. Decide within 7 days if you like it or not. If not, take it back and get fantasy life.
I recommended tomolife first because it's short and doesn't take much time to get started.
Fantasy life is far more long and takes a lot to do much of anything.

I'd say fantasy life. But try both.

In the long run, Fantasy Life is going to get more bang for your buck. The gameplay might be too simplistic and repetitive for the more seasoned gamers, but it is still a joy to play it thanks to its charming characters. The fact that you don't need to create an alternate character to experience all of the jobs (they are called Lifes in this game) is a boon. How can you deny a Mercenary that can also fish? What about being both Magician and Paladin at the same time? Either way, you're going to spend well over 60 hours without the DLC if you're a real completionist.

Tomodachi Life is fun for very short bursts and the very concept of Mii being thrown to random (sometimes hilarious) situations, but that's about it. The MSRP of this game is way too high considering how shallow is the content. You could just watch some YouTube videos of it rather than playing it. Playing for a long while is going to be a boredom.

If have to add more recommendations to your 3DS library, you couldn't go wrong with any of the titles mentioned below. These games are certainly much better than Fantasy Life and Tomodachi Life, but it's up to your tastes to decide which one of them are worth your attention.

  • Fire Emblem: Awakening is a perfect entry point for newcomers of the franchise, while being still challenging to the more hardcore fans. This tactical SRPG features a solid storyline, characters with rather colorful personalities, and a very rewarding gameplay. Hate the permadeath mechanic? No problem, there's the Casual Mode for those who can't stand resetting a chapter just because someone useful died.
  • Super Mario 3D Land is a competent linear 3D platformer that utilizes the system's 3D effects in order to make the gameplay even more enjoyable. It also have gameplay elements that you're familiar with 2D Mario platformers. The game can be on the very easy side if you're not completing the game to 100%, but you will definitely enjoy this pick-up-and-play romp.
  • The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D : If you're into adventuring mood or reliving one of the best games of your childhood, this game will definitely fit the bill. The transition from 2D to 3D is done in a very graceful manner, which was enough for the game to be revolutionize 3D gaming. A dozen of dungeons and maps will truly test your power, wisdom and courage.
  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds : If you're a fan of top-down perspective adventure games, then this game should be your first stop. Fast-paced, clever dungeons, unique renting system that has you keeping on the edge of your seat until you get rich enough to afford all of those items.
  • Pushmo : If you'd like a good time-waster that is affordable for your wallet, this is the one to go with. The push-and-pull puzzles will get your head thinking. Be warned, some of them can get tough, especially during the later stages. Oh, and you can create puzzles and share them with QR Codes saved in your SD card.

I've played both games. While I enjoyed Fantasy Life immensely, I'm not the biggest fan of RPGs because I dislike grinding, so after I'd reached God level for my chosen life, I stopped playing. (Lots of fans go on to max out every single one of the 12 lives.) Tomodachi Life, on the other hand, I'm still playing every day after 6 months. It's a game that plays itself, really. No grinding required. It's very casual, very random, very quirky. I love all my miis, I'm very attached to them, so I anticipate I'll keep playing the game for a long, long time to come.

From your game list, I think you'll enjoy Fantasy Life more. ;)

I've played both. I put down Tomodachi Life after 3 weeks or so... I can't even bring myself to check on it. It is super fun at first but gets quite routine and boring.

In the long run, Fantasy Life is a better pick, imo.

Fantasy Life! It has a massive world for you to explore. The overall story is a bit cheesy and somewhat dialogue heavy. Lots of puns if you take up a wizard life. There are 12 lives that you can be, even if you change your life, skills used in the previous life can help you in your next life! For example, wizard/alchemy, woodcutter/carpenter all go together! The game has more playtime in the end compared to Tomodachi Life. If you don't like "grinding" the game probably isn't suited for you. I find the game to be relaxing, one day I can fight cute monsters, the next I can craft clothes!
I downloaded the demo for Tomodachi Life and it was fun for the first 3 times I played it and it did not interest me enough to buy it.

I'd say Fantasy Life, but I haven't played Tomodachi Life and I most likely never will. I've just never been a fan of Mii's and such so it doesn't really appeal to me.

Fantasy Life, I have both and honestly I found Tomodachi Life quickly became very boring.

I have both games. I play TOMODACHI life every single day, but that's mostly because I need to if I want to see new stock, fountain money and other things. But I only play for about >10 mins and that's it. Fantasy Life is way more immersive, and has actual replay value to it too. But it really depends on what you're Looking for.
Do you want a game you play in short spurts throughout the day or do you want something with a story and RPG aspect?

Fantasy Life all day long. I haven't played Tomodachi Life, but I did play the demo and even that bored me.

Ok decided I'm going to get both eventually! Overall Fantasy Life sounds like the better game, but I love the random quirkiness of Tomodachi Life! I'm in the process of getting Fantasy Life now and I bought Tomodachi Life a week or so ago. It's pretty hilarious so far especially the romance between my Daisy (from Mario) and Professor Oak (from Pokemon) Miis.

Can't wait to try out Fantasy Life too. I'm not big into RPGs but Fantasy seems like one of those ones that tends to please almost anyone. Thanks for all your opinions guys! ^.^

hope you didn't pay $40 for tomodachi life or you're gonna regret it in a few weeks lmao

I don't have Fantasy Life, but I've heard nothing bad about it. I have Tomodachi Life and it's ok I guess. It just got really really old and repetitive.

Well I should've read your post
XD
