Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream Direct! 1/29/2026

as somebody who doesn't usually get excited about new releases anymore, i'm very excited for this and throughly impressed!! i might even pre-order it lmao. tomodachi life for the 3DS was peak childhood for me so i'm happy that there's a new game coming after all these years. i like the fact that we can now have up to eight mii's living in the same house, it's definitely an upgrade from the apartments in previous games. additionally, based on what i saw, i feel like the customization isn't too overbearing and it works well for this type of game.

also the fact that it's compatible with the original switch! i was pleasantly surprised because i was expecting it to be a switch 2 exclusive.

I watched the Direct live and was very impressed by what was shown! Very glad that you can set dating preferences now, and was presently surprised they added a non-binary option.

There’s a lot more customization this time around and I have to idea what I’ll end up doing with my island.

I am wondering if two features will be coming back:
-the concert hall
-being able to share Miis with qr code etc. I read in an article only local communication for sharing Miis, but QR code technically wouldn’t be online so I’m hoping there’s still a chance

It's refreshing to see that they added options to be NB, as well LGBT romance. Even though I'm not LGBT, I'm going to try and get my character hitched with the other female mii I use as a mascot pretty much.

Something hit me. I remember making some sort of hint back when Mitomo was around with photos you could make in the game. I found it this morning sitting on my Tumblr.

I made this back in 2017. These are the two I was talking about. One is me (The smitten girl) and the chair girl is my 'mascot' Mii, Emiko. I made her when I first played Tomodachi Life back in 2015. I got the game kinda late. But I have put so many hours in it that I broke the counter. lol

I'm looking forward to it! I really enjoyed the 3ds version, and love that they're giving us the option to have a nonbinary option! But the one thing that kinda makes it feel intimidating is the amount of customizations they're giving... Like I like that they have customizations, but it's a bit too much

I had a lot of fun playing Tomodachi Life on the 3DS, so I was already looking forward to this game, but the direct made me even more excited! The customization options look like they'll be fun to play with. I can't wait to make silly little pets for everyone on my island. I'm also glad we'll be able to pick dating preferences and have the option to make our miis non-binary.

They very well may add an option for some couples not to have kids but they probably wouldn’t refer to that explicitly as the Miis being asexual

Nintendo needs to release official Miis for all the characters shown in the Direct. Especially Hugh Morris.

I'm on my local Nintendo Store (Europe, won't say more) and they have physical copies available for pre-order. There is the pre-order bonus of the picture frame too!

Have not played the games before but this one will be my first of the series. I ended up buying the vouchers and used one to preorder the game when I saw it on the switch.
