To what extent do you use this site as a getaway from life?

Something I'm kinda curious about.

I think everyone on forums to at least some degree uses them as a getaway from their day-to-day life. My question to you is do you feel like you actively or inadvertently use forums for this purpose?

I think at one point I only used this forum as a way to get more items/get more done in my town in New Leaf which was a way of getting away from real life/nothing to do I guess. At other times it would be to make posts because I wasn't talking to people in real life.

Not at all. If I wanted a "getaway from life", I'd avoid TBT as well. But that's down to having duties to fulfil here.

This site is definitely a distraction from reality and I do use it for the purpose of a 'getaway' but sometimes I can get too engrossed to the point where I'm less productive throughout the day and the same goes for the Animal Crossing game. It started off with just playing with other users through the game but now I'm regularly reading through threads (that have nothing related to Animal Crossing) and messaging.

I don't really, I mainly just use it to sell stuff and because I'm bored. I've made some friends here but I wouldn't say it's a "getaway" from anything.

I just use it to help with acnl, talk to people and something to do in spare time because it's fun!

Not really a gateway just more like something to do for fun. I'm not big on social media as much, except for still using instagram, but that's about it. So this forum just keeps me at least a bit more social lol

Same as most, it's not so much of a getaway to me; I'd find myself around Twitter or games if I did want a getaway. I'm mostly around TBT when I have free time or I'm taking a quick break from studying to post about something. It's an "I've free time to kill, I wonder what's happing on the site" kind, not really a "when I get home, I'm immediately gonna log in because I hate life" kind.

Less of a getaway and more of a great place to talk ACNL. I don't have any friends that play it so it's nice to talk to others that do. I played ACNL for a while before discovering this forum and I'm glad I did. The TBT bells are cool and I like that I can always find those hard to get items.

It's a cool place but not so much a getaway. I think the game might be a bit of a getaway though.

i feel like i used to but now i honestly use it more when im bored/actual animal crossing business. id gladly go live my life and dont really feel the need to escape anymore lol.

Escapism has been a major part of my life for so many years now. Especially in the past two days have I done nothing but browse these forums from the moment I woke up to the moment I went to bed. It really isn't healthy.

if i'm sad i want to be alone but also talk to people at the same time and i don't want to see people i know so i come online and talk with strangers , it's easier because i have my own privacy but i can ignore what's going on in real life for the time being

I'd be lying if I said I don't use TBT as a "getaway" but not entirely either.
It is in a way but in all actually I use for something to do on my spare time.
It's fun, I enjoy talking and meeting new people who share the same love for AC.
More like...therapy. I guess? Hah.
I've always wondered myself if other folks use it as a getaway from life for a while..

This site is just really one of my favorite places to talk to people, play around, and participate in online activities. I wouldn't call it an escape. It does make me happy, and I've never had a bad experience here, but it's not like it's such a heavenly place that I use it an escape from some sort of hellish experiences. My life isn't very hellish anyways. I mean, it's quite an emotional wreck at times, but everything else is going great.

Quite a lot really. I haven't got much in the way of a life these days with my health the way it is. This site certainly kept my mind off everything while I was in hospital recently, although as I was in such a long time I ended up having to buy extra data for my phone just so I could keep myself occupied on here with chatting to people.
I tend to avoid my real life friends while I'm like this, so having friends on here really helps. And I enjoy coming on here and being useful, I try to help people on the retail and new leaf boards if I can.
So yeah, quite a big getaway for me
