Tips for keeping the Villagers original, please?

All the villagers in my second town are original, both their clothing and furniture as well as catch phrase and greeting. I have that town since December last year and everybody is still original.

Here's what I usually do:

1. 'Say yes' (or no) to every request but don't actually do them except for fruit and signatures. Also, I agree to home visits but I don't take any of their furniture.
2. Never give them bugs or fishes, they're just going to display them on top of a table or somewhere inside their houses.
3. Be wary of delivering packages because they're mostly clothes and again, the possibility that they'll put them inside in exchange for the original furniture.
4. Fill the Re-Tail with shells or anything. Replace those clothes from "Anytown" with custom dresses or umbrellas in Able Sisters
5. Don't make them buy anything from your pocket (especially fossils!!!)
6. I always say no or "you're fine" something like that, if they ask to change catch phrases and greetings.
7. Avoid being idle in a specific spot where villagers walk around (laying your paths, been afk or doing nothing). They might exchange clothing during convos. Either open your train station or often save/quit or just save if you think you're gonna stay in one area for too long (just to be safe in case something happens).

I don't think it affects the friendship if you don't always give what they want except that it probably takes a bit longer to establish a high friendship with them. I haven't noticed the difference, to be honest. If you really want the pictures really quick, give them perfect fruit. They won't move out just because of that. Villager asking to move is always random, no matter what.

Reporting to Isabelle about their language makes them say "uh-huh" and makes them change to plain white if you report about their clothing.

I'm doing absolutely everything you've mentioned and so far everything has been fine.

I didn't know that if I stood around for too long, they would literally take a piece of clothing out of the void and wear it. Thank you, that will make me more careful, I think it important that the villager does not lose its essence, unless I really want this, which is not the case at the moment!

Reporting to Isabelle for now has not changed anything in my game, I do not know why, but Whitney is still dressed the same way. :(

For some reason complaining to Isabelle about catchphrases and or clothes never seemed to work. She said she'd get to it right away and a few days would go by and they still had the same stuff. Maybe they fixed that in the New Leaf update, but I never had luck with it...

If you do happen to have stuff in their house that isn't original, let them invite you to their house. When you go there, talk to them until they ask you if you want something from their house and select yes as the option. Choose whatever item it is and hopefully they will sell it to you.

Good hint! I was thinking here and I had a light: a good way to return the furniture to your Villager would be to walk around with it in your pocket, until Villager is interested in it. But this must be very uncertain, considering that I have never tried this yet.

I have a Question regarding placing umbrellas in the clothes store ,
Are villagers going to buy the umbrellas I displayed since they use them on rainy days? Or no?

Thanks!

Nope! I replaced the designs in my Able Sisters store with umbrellas on day 1, and it's been months, and they haven't done anything with them. If you want to change what umbrella they use, I've heard that if you put one for sale in Retail and they buy it, they'll start using that one instead of their regular umbrella. I haven't tested that, though.
