Tips for hybrids.

What are your personal tips for creating hybrids and flower layous and such? I've never really put any effort into the flowers in any of the Animal Crossing games I've played but I'm starting to give a damn now. So I was wondering if anyone has any good tips on how to lay out the flowers for better results at creating me some good hybrids?

If I wanted to make pink roses for example, I'd put at least 6 flowers down, 3 red and 3 white in this formation:

OXO

You can have more obviously, 9 is a good number to have. I have beautiful town ordinance and I only water the flowers I'm using to grow these hybrids, no other flowers. From my personal experience, if I only water the flowers I want to breed hybrids from, I have a much better chance. And beautiful town ordinance prevents the flowers I haven't watered from wilting.

However, most of my hybrids were accidental at first. I just plonked all my flowers in one place to keep then safe and BAM! The next day 2-3 hybrids had grown xD

I don't know any tips for breeding hybrids xD I just plonk them into small groups and the colors that make a certain hybrids and water them everyday.
Usually I get around 1-2 hybrids for each group.
