I had idea that maybe I can barricade them in with holes, do the diving trip and run back to them. Would that work?
I want to get a cranky and an uchi for the pwps, but I don't want to keep them forever, so I want to get the pwps I want quickly.

Yeah the barricading will help but they are still able to make stupid requests like the new catch phrases and what not. The diving trick requires a lot of patience and stamina lol u.u
Yep, just like Dizzy said, you can trap them but expect them to ask for a new catchphrase, a new nickname for you, and like 50 other stupid things before suggesting a PWP. I just did this for a good long while the other night and yeah, it still takes some time. And you can only get 1 per day, so when they ultimately give you a horrible PWP suggestion you have to TT before trying again... Mine suggested me a Rack of Rice and those construction signs last night... wanted to kill them.
Like the others said, you'll need to be really patient with it. I'd recommend finding some free time and constantly going at it until they ask you for the PWP you want. Because I've found out the longer you have a villager in your town, the harder it is to get rid of them, so make sure that they're still a fresh villager by the time you've got the PWP you wanted.
To minimize chances of them asking you to buy things (or to buy things from you), completely fill your pockets with things they don't want to buy (flowers usually is the go to thing) and have no bells on you at all. If you don't get any pings from the villager after a bit, talk to them and they'll probably say something like "you should take a break blahblah" which in that case, just save and quit and reload back in (save & continue might work too, not sure though). I suggest trapping all your villagers in holes if you can, that way you can just go straight to the one you need without risk of running into someone else who will ping you. Hope this helps!
