Tips for Animal Crossing?

I'm brand new here and still fairly new to Animal Crossing.
Does anyone know of a thread already set up to help beginners?
I have so many questions!

Such as..
How can you get new fruit? I only have peaches...
Do you just visit other towns and ask for some?

How do you become really good friends with animals in your town?
I've seen that some people get pictures and things..

How do you unlock more shops and places in town?

Any help is much appreciated!

Send fruit to villagers, visit the island games, or meet with a experienced player.

How do you become really good friends with animals in your town?

Talk multiple times every day, complete their requests, send them letters, don't hit them, be nice to them, let them come over to your house, accept their invitation to visit their house. Keep this up for a couple of months and you might receive a picture.

How do you unlock more shops and places in town?

You will in time. You shouldn't expect to have access to everything within the first month. Once you bought plenty of items from Nooklings they will upgrade, so even buy stuff you don't need if you have enough money. Visit the island at night (7PM) and catch beetles there. They sell for about 6.000-8.000 a piece, some 12.000.
