So since I am one of you who just keep resetting for no reason I thought about something that might help. First, choose a map you are very happy about. Then, every day, go to the bulletin board near the station and write something you like about your town (or something good that happened in your town).

I don't know, I thought about it so I am going to try it in my new town, let's see if it works! :)

That's actually a really clever idea. I think I'm gonna do that in my new town, I just recreated my town a few minutes ago.

Ooh this sounds like a fun idea, I like having certain goals to complete each day in town (getting shrunk's jokes, drinking coffee, etc), I'm gonna start doing this! c:

Oh this is a good idea. I have an anti reset blog on here but it'd be nice to have something in game too.

I always wanted to reset my town but I did want to work on a town long term and actually make something of it so I ended up buying another cartridge so I could have a town to build up and a town to constantly reset just to feed my habit - ridiculous I know!

That's not ridiculous, it's a way to preserve your main town to fall into the resetting hole. I actually did the same but I ended up resetting anyways C:

That's actually a nice idea! I reset so many times my town in the past, I guess I should do this
in my current town.

That's a nice thing to do!

I should try it, since I have a second cartridge, and after the first try, I can't stop resetting. Even if I like the main layout, my villagers and almost everything looks fine... Sigh.

I still have my original town (been playing since 2013; started in my boyfriend's town but started my own town with my original character as the mayor in 2014) and still play it almost daily. I don't have the perfect map, but I've made the most I can out of it and I'm really happy with how it turned out.

You should definitely start off with a map you like, or commit to making the most out of your map like I did. Don't throw away your progress just because you get bored. If you need a change, then change things. Here's a list of useful stuff that might help.

1. Change the color scheme or your town by growing different colored flowers to plant everywhere or cover your beaches with.

2. Experiment with things like bamboo fences, stump chairs, mushroom walkways and other non-pwp things you can decorate your town with.

3. Move in villagers you love and learn to plot reset so their house ends up in the perfect spot (the update made this soooo much easier becauese villagers won't plot on path designs anymore, meaning you can path off any empty space in your town and force them to move where you want).

4. Set your island up for beetle farming efficiency in the beginning (only 3 palm trees; one on each side of the hut, the other in the middle bottom part of your beach. No flowers, shrubs or other trees. Scare away everything, including fish, with your bug net to make beetles spawn faster) and make bank.

5. Make 3 characters (Don't make a 4th; you need the last character for plot resetting) and expand their houses fully. Decorate all your houses with beautiful customized furniture. You'll also have more space for custom designs, you can keep your path designs on one of your alts, you can earn even more badges, and you have additional characters to dress up and make adorable which will be just another thing to make you love your town.

6. When you have a ton of money saved up and you don't need to beetle farm as much, decorate your island. It's tedious because you have to bring any hybrid flowers/ clovers you want over as accessories or headgear, but having a gorgeous island might make you want to go there and catch stuff even more (mine is covered in jacob's ladders and clovers and I love it).

7. If you've done as much decorating in your houses as you can, try decorating your museum rooms, too.

8. Try slowly to get all of the badges on your mayor, and maybe even on your alts.

9. Go on lots of tours, get tons of medals, and island hop on club tortimer in search of rare island items you can decorate your houses with.

10. When your town has all of the villagers you want, their houses are in the perfect spot, and you're finished landscaping, pick a date to stop your town on. Pick the perfect season for you, and pick a day with your favorite weather (summer and thunderstorm for me) so that you never lose any of your dreamies and your town will officially be stress free and complete.

I'm also a serial resetter...not just AC, but with nearly any game with choices

What helps me is avoiding that first urge. What I find is that if I indulge in "oh, what's just one reroll gonna do?", then I end up doing it again and again and again. If I can resist that first urge and just stick with whatever I choose, I usually can power through
