I was wondering if going back in time continually before the date a villager plans to move will leave them there indefinitely? I'm attempting to hold on to a villager for an extra day or two so I may give him to my friend, but I fear if I go back in time the game might still count it as passage in time and move him anyway.

Since it will still be the same day the villager is in boxes, they won't leave.

Even if they say they're moving on the 15th, but you keep going back one day at a time to the 10th. They WILL move out/be in boxes.

Like said above, they will pack everything and/or move if you're not careful with backwards TTing.
