Hey all. I’m curious to see if anyone can help me with this. It’s spring 2021 in my town right now. But I want to time travel backwards to autumn 2020... could doing so cause one of my villagers to move out or do they have to ping me and tell me in this game?

I have 10 villagers right now and can’t risk losing a dreamie. Should I wait till I have 9 villagers and then do it? Or just not risk it? I’ve never time travelled backwards so I’m unsure if this affects villagers moving out or anything else.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but from what I remember, time traveling backwards, no matter how long you time travel backwards, it ALWAYS just counts as one day?? But I may be wrong. Correct me if I am.

However I don't believe a villager can move out until you prompt them to. People have been cycling and such and they haven't come across someone just randomly moving out yet. So you should be fine!

That gives me hope! I really want to go back to autumn to make the cute mushroom furniture but I’m scared of losing my villagers. Also curious if we were to lose a villager, can they move back in again?

Basically as long as you go back in time all in one go it should count as one day.

Also From my understanding Villagers can't move without you giving them permission.

Moving backwards will count as 1 day no matter how far back you go. As the others are saying, villagers won't move until you give them permission, so don't worry about losing anyone. On the off chance you do lose a villager for whatever reason, you can invite that villager back immediately. There's no void to cycle through like in NL.

Yep! There's no cycle period in this game. So if I lose Chief by mistake for example, I can just invite him back with my amiibo card c: The only downside is that your friendship will be reset and they won't remember you.
