I've been seeing Stardew Valley just about everywhere nowadays. I decided to look into it, and it looks like an actually fun game. I'm thinking of buying it, but would like other people's thoughts on it first. What's it like? Did you enjoy it? What did you not enjoy about it? Good story/plot line? What kind of game is it overall?

It's an incredible game. I've got about 200 hours built up on it so far. It's very similar to Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing. You basically just build up a farm that was left to you by your grandfather in game. You basically escape a crappy city life to live in the country side. You meet the townsfolk, you build relationships by showering them with stuff every day until you eventually choose someone you want to marry. You can pretty much do what you want within reason of the game, too. My main farm focuses on making wines and animal products. Super fun. And multiplayer should be arriving any month now!

The only issue with the game is that you don't really get a lot of time. Each 'day' is only about 15 minutes IRL.

Thanks so much! I think is is just what I needed. I'll wait a bit and if I still want to buy it, Stardew Valley here I come. :)

I cannot waiiiit for multiplayer and whatever is going on with the boat and possible map expansion.

Everything Khaelis said is valid. I actually never noticed if the days were short or not, I like their length maybe because I go to sleep to end the day pretty early in games like Stardew and Harvest Moon anyway (I'm just not patient?). I finished the community center a long while back, and have just been trying to get full friendship with everyone and then was thinking about on a different save, marrying and divorcing to see all the stories of romanceable characters. Every character has a background and you can really get invested in the town.

Love it. I think that's super cool. Are the backgrounds really detailed? Even if they're not I like that they each have a story to tell.

The scenes usually don't feel too long, so for me they don't always come across as detailed, but still express the depth of the character. Each scene does really build upon the character in question though, and the personalities feel realistic.

It was alright... although I think I played it too much when I got it so I got kinda tired of it because when you've done everything all you can do is like doing the Jojomart storyline and like, try getting all those fruits for achievements, unless they added more.

Thanks for helping me out, guys! I bought the game yesterday and I'm enjoying it pretty fairly. I do like the cutscenes and the unique personalities of the townsfolk and different characters. Yeah, I don't like the amount of time each day and how fast it goes by that much. The days do go by fast, but it's not a huge problem for me. Another thing which kind of gets on my nerves a bit is that it takes more time to get to places.

Anyway, again, thanks for your reviews. It lead me to my decision to buy it, and I'm not regretting my buy. :)

You unlock faster travel methods later on.

Stardew Valley is one of my favorite games ever, it's comparable to Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon. I've spent 100+ hours playing so far, and it's really an amazing experience. Designing the layout of my farm was my favorite thing to do in the game, and there's definitely something for everyone.

It's just been given multiplayer and a large update on PC (can't speak for other platforms), for those who are unaware. :)

Absolutely love it. I have like 426 hours in with 4 different farms, I'm definitely ready to jump right back in for a new farm, but I want to give my other games some love too.

Insanely relaxing and like my favorite game. I bought it on PC release and played the heck out of it. I have the multiplayer version... but I played it so much that I need a longer break before I give that a try.
