This is a cry for help - advice on making a rock garden?

I have four rocks in place, but the last damned two won't go where I want them! There are weeds covering my island and mannequins polluting it. My villagers are on the brink of an intervention. How do I make them go where I need them to?

I have heard that people have trouble getting all their rocks in the same acre and they had to do some slight adjusting, weather it be the rocks or all the other stuff they've used to make the rocks spawn. But as far as that goes I can't offer any advice. If I see some thou I'll post/link it here.

It might help if you could post pics! I've never tried to do a rock garden, but I moved all my rocks, and there were just some spots they refused to go. Fortunately, I didn't have a very specific design in mind, so I just gave up. But I know a lot of people have managed to make rock gardens after moving some things they never thought would affect it.

Something many people miss is there is a rule that rocks won't appear 4-5 spaces behind 'large' items and cliffs.

I would advise clearing the entire area infront of where you want the rocks to spawn and just put mannequins there for now. It's what I had to resort to in my town. - for me a Stone arch that was at the base of the cliff the rocks were on top of appeared to be the issue, after about 30 days of manequin hell.

it looks like the mannequin is on a half space, i would double check that. i would also take off the fencing, i don’t remember if i had fencing when i made my rock garden but that might also be a factor.

edit: i would also try nixing the river

Yah, that mannequin definitely looks like it could be causing a problem! I imagine moving or deleting it would help a lot, maybe even with both spaces.

But, again, I'm no expert

Yeah, that mannequin needs to be pulled forwards a half space. It counts as occupying the tiled area infront of where you want the rocks, and so a rock won't spawn adjacent to those tiles.

When I did mine, I found it easiest to put down the sandstone path (which is hard and rocks can't spawn on) in areas where they COULD spawn, but I didn't want them. It allowed me to leave spots EXACTLY where I wanted them. But my island is extremely decorated, so I didn't need to use much of the path since a lot of my island is already covered.

If you don't TT, then it just requires patience. It took like 2 or 2 1/2 weeks (in real world time, since I don't TT) for mine to finally all go where I wanted them to.

^ To add to that, I found having a friend or two check over all the mannequins/custom designs you place is a big help in case you missed a spot. It also took me a good 2 1/2 or 3 weeks the first time I made my rock garden. XD

If you can find where they’re spawning besides the rock garden just break them and slap a mannequin where the bad rock was. Good luck on you’re garden! I’m working on mine as well and it’s definitely more work than I signed up for :,)
