new horizons has just been so boring oof
i mean i love the game and all but im outta things to d o
Plus... I have a project where I have to take a "media fast" which i DON't wanna do but hey this is the perfect excuse i guess hahaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
anyway
may be one day, may be one week, may be until the next darn update. I dunno.
Until then I'll think of things to make my island more interesting, lol.
I don't blame you. I'm sure everyone has/is taking a break. You can always come back to it. There's no pressure in forcing yourself to play when you don't want to.
i took an almost 2 month break from the game myself, even though i didn't think the game is boring itself, i just got really burnt out and, well, bored, so i stopped playing for a good while. I came back to it and i'm very happy with it now having refreshed my mind a bit with other things. It's totally okay to take a break when you need to!
I'm taking a hiatus too! With school starting and with me just losing interest in the game in general, I haven't really been picking it up lately.
The great thing is, the island will still be there for me when I get back. Now, we don't have to worry about losing loved villagers either! There is always time travel if I want to experience events of previous months as well.
Do what is best for you. I think it's natural, and normal, for people to have waves of interest in hobbies.
That’s totally normal! I think a lot of people have been burnt out, especially since most of us have had more opportunity to play with COVID lockdown. I took a break for 2 months and came back, it gave me a chance to get excited to play again because I had new fish/bugs to catch and new items to craft etc!
I'm shocked I've not took a break yet but I find myself doing the bare minimum now such as collecting Nook points and checking mail, only really speaking to villagers I still need pics of. I used to probably spend an hour or so daily now it's more like 20 minutes.
I've been taking a break from the game myself as well. The most I do on New Horizons is check the stores and the town plaza. The after that I save and quit the game since there really isn't much to check out.
I straight up reset my town in hopes it will give me something to do, but I feel you. Its not like I'm burned out, because I wanna play but there's nothing to do. I turn on my switch and stare at the screen wantin to play, but I realize there's nothing after doing daily things
It's all right if you do need to take a break. I play different video games to not burn myself out from playing New Horizons. I think it would benefit you recharging your batteries. It might just reignite your interest once the update comes around!
i don’t blame you. i’ve technically been on a hiatus for about a month now minus the few trades i’ve done + participating in the fair events/contests that involved the game.

There's really nothing wrong with putting the game aside for a while. In fact, it's important to stop when you start getting bored, otherwise you'll burn yourself out completely and it might put you completely off from returning to the game.
It's not like you miss out on anything right now. If they keep this drag of updates up, you might as well return in 2 years, when they'll finally have added a substantional amount of content (hopefully).
I was pretty excited about the new recipes until I figured out how many times I have to shake a damn tree to get one acorn or pine cone. Not being a time traveler, I hope everyday I may get a new recipe or new item in Nooks but everyday brings disappointment. For now, I do the minimum and shut down until the next day.

It's perfectly normal to take a break! I'm glad you're prioritizing it. I've taken little breaks on and off when I'm bored or don't feel inspired to decorate my island more. There's still plenty for me to do, but I haven't gotten to it yet. It's basically a slow process. Take the time for yourself until you feel like coming back. :3
I hope you have a nice break and take as much time as you need to. No point playing if you’re not having fun. It’s good that you’re acknowledging that and are willing to do something about it. I haven’t needed a break from NH yet but took one from NL (never went back to it though except to check something small once or twice). I hope you’ll come back to the game eventually, but don’t feel pressured to rush back. Take some time to try some other games or whatever else you like to do. The game will still be here when you’re ready to play again.
This is coming from someone who never had off all of the covid pandemic and was severely overworked, I've already taken two long hiatuses. I am on the second one right now and have no plans to return to the game any time soon. This is normal for Animal Crossing games, with the exception that the other games were complete by the time I got burned out.
Having a dry spell on September also doesn't do anything to bolster the numbers. It's like a bathtub without a plug. If you don't bring in updates in a monthly manner there's nothing to plug the hole of people losing interest. Sure we all lose our interest over time and get burned out, but when that time came I already had the roost, Nooks upgraded fully, a nicely decorated house that I was pleased with, ect.
So I don't blame you. I feel like they pushed this game out too early. And then covid went and screwed it up even more for them.
