What is the deal with "dreamies"? I never saw any signs of this phenomenon with previous versions of Animal Crossing. As I understand it, people trade for their favorite villagers then keep them permanently. Why? Isn't part of the fun having new villagers move in so you can get to know them all? Doesn't it get boring seeing the same 9 or 10 villagers month after month? I would hate that!
What is the deal with people who reset their towns thousands of times for days and weeks on end to get a "perfect" map? That seems like craziness to me - I started playing with the first map that popped up when I first turned on the game and I've come to love it. Why on earth would people throw away months of progress because they don't like the pattern on their grass, or where they built their police station, or they have peaches but want oranges? Seriously? Jeesh!
The tedium of creating new characters and resetting hundreds of times to get a villager to move exactly where people want them to must be maddening! I just built PWP's near my paths to keep them off and they can move wherever else they want. The randomness of the game is part of it's appeal - who will move in next? Will they live near the beach or north of the river? Who knows? Who cares?
All this obsessive behavior diminishes the game on so many levels. Can't people just play it the way it was supposed to be played?
