There is a chance that a villager will forget to visit your home

Okay so I was playing New Leaf and this just happened. I was talking to Lucky and he agreed to come by my home by 4 PM since that was the time he wanted to come by. So I finished do all my daily stuff around town. Went back into my home when it was around 3:58 PM I waited for like 3 minutes and Lucky didn't show up. I go and talk to him and he says "Oh I'm sorry I forgot our meeting. I was too busy eating snacks!" I can't help but feel annoyed that just happened and it wasted my time. Has anyone ever had this happened to them?

Yep! One of my villagers in an older town of mine said they wanted to come over and visit but they didn't show up. I don't think it's very common, but it can happen.

According to Nookipedia it's also possible for you to be invited to their house but they might not be home when you arrive.

yeah, especially since they get upset when you forget about them lol
But hey, in the end I think it adds to the realism and personality, so I don't really have a problem if they do that

Wow, I did not know this could happen. Although, I almost always play later in the evening and they apparently don't request scheduled visits after a certain time because I've only gotten these types of requests when I play earlier in the afternoon. I have had one of my lazy villagers show up as much as 5 minutes late after the scheduled time on one of the rare occasions that I've schedule a visit with them, though. They even apologized for being late when they walked in.

Yeah, it happens sometimes! I’ve had it happen where I’ve forgotten that they were coming over and then when I play later they’re like, “oh my gosh! I forgot to come over!” so it works out nicely in that case

I don’t think they forget to come over terribly often but every once in a while it happens. I’m personally not too bothered by it as I forget to go over to their houses (or be available when they come over) all the time so I figure it’s fair when it happens to me!

Echoing what was said above, there was one time that Broccolo was supposed to come to my house at a certain time, and then he ended up being a least five minutes (possibly more) late. I'm pretty sure it's just a lazy villager thing. I don't think I've ever had one of my villagers forget a visit yet, but I think that's because I'm usually the one who forgets, instead...

On a somewhat unrelated note, there was one time that I was late for a visit with a villager because the villager I was supposed to meet (Chops) ran up to me and asked me to change his catchphrase, and while I was pondering what to change it to, the meeting time came and went. It wasn't my fault! You were the one who held me up for so long, Chops! (I still love you, though)

I had that happen a couple of times as well! I think one of those times I was sitting down, but... was sitting on a chair really enough for the game to think I wasn't even there?

Nope! Never had this happen to me, oddly enough. But with how often I forget them when they say they're gonna visit, I guess it's just karma if it does ever happen to me lol

Oh, this happened to me with Beau who is a lazy villager as well! Never had it happen with any other personality type, so it might be just lazy villagers. It suits them to bail on you for snacks, though!

This happened a few times with some of my villagers, I waited for them to come and they never showed up and when I talked to them later, they said they forgot about it. It doesn't happen often though.

I didn’t know that could happen but I like it because it’s realistic. I’ve been guilty of telling villagers they could come over and then got caught up doing other stuff I forgot to be there when they were supposed to come. It’s funny they can blow you off too

I didn't know that could happen! I kind of love it. Sounds very much like a lazy villager to get so into eating snacks they forget to visit their friend!

i always thought that i somehow missed something, it never occurred to me that they actually forgot. whenever they said they forgot i always took it as i forgot so the game programmed them to say that

Yeah, it has happened to me, but only once. I can't really tell whether or not I find it just plain annoying (having to just sit and watch my screen for ages) or if I kind of like it. It is further proof of just how detailed this game is, it is kinda cute and makes it feel that little bit less like an automated game lol.
