themed town help?

so i started up another town today with a theme in mind..so a story i guess idk (ive been wanting to do this for a while)

dont wanna give anything away yet but basically its kinda like aika village where all the houses tell a story
now im not sure on the smallest details really.. do i name them all the same thing? its supposed to be growing up i guess as each house goes on and idk if i should all name them the same thing or change it up.
that and i would like advice on how to set it up and everything from people who have themed towns
its supposed to be kinda dark i guess but not like. horror you know.

are there any overrated things you would rather not see? i wanna make this unique. (songs that everyone uses, items that everyone uses, etc)

Naming them all the same thing would be call if you're going for that kind of scenario. I'm not too picky on songs but I've seen the same grey/brown brick paths in most dark towns like that so maybe mixing up and using different paths (I like grassy ones) would be cool.

ooh okay.. yeah i wanted to use a path but i didnt want to use one that everyone else is using. i havent really come across any paths that i feel like can match the theme. maybe i could do a natural path instead? hm

im mostly going to avoid using red dolls because like..all horror-y towns have them. idk. i feel kinda embarrassed to say this towns story omg but i think i can do it.

Avoid or limit your usage of K.K. Dirge - yeah it's creepy, apparently everyone else thinks so too. This really bothered me in Diablo, an otherwise extremely good village - one house had that playing in 5 rooms.

Red dolls too. I feel like everything that can be done with them has been already.

Also weeds and dead trees everywhere is cool now and again but it also feels maybe a little bit lazy - no offense to those who do it, but now tht the novelty has worn out, I have more appreciation for landscaping that takes a bit more planning and effort!

yeah i notice lots of the same music in towns. how about the general hour music? i hear some people say they're sick of the 4 AM music or whatever. or do you not notice that?

i dont think ill do too much overkill on the weeds and trees. i want it to feel..subtle i guess.
