It's terrible. Increasing percentage chance per day that increases per day, capping at 20% per day? That is so flawed. I give so much respect to developers since its quite difficult but this sort of thing NEVER works; they fail to understand what BAD LUCK is.

I am literally on my 11th day without a campground villager, and I could go MONTHS without one because I only have a 20% chance per day to get one.

This is mostly just a rant, but bleh. As much as I like what developers do for us to have games for us to enjoy, some of their choices are just way past questionable.

Yah, it's tough for those that do not TT. It's always a roll of the dice. I do appreciate that they offer another mean via Amiibo summoning of villagers but collecting those Amiibo is another ordeal in itself.

Seriously, they're so expensive whenever I come across a pack in a store and its complete RNG what I get. My only other options are to overpay from scalpers or 'make' my own which I definitely do not trust myself with.

I think it works that way on purpose, because it's not like campers would travel like crazy to deserted islands. It also may work that way to encourage people to go to mystery islands. Both mechanics work for the same purpose: finding new villagers.

And the game clearly don't want to make specific villagers easily available. The way the game rolls for species first whenever you go to a new island is indicative of then wanting to push for more variety. That's why the odds of finding a specific villager or even a specific species is so low. It works that way by design. It looks like they wanted to encourage people to cycle through multiple villagers throughout their journey in ACNH instead of sticking with a set of dreamies.

there's a shop i've bought from on etsy that makes amiibo tokens!! they work just the same as cards. ;; they're miles cheaper and you can get multiple at once, and the price doesn't change based on the character!! so you won't have to pay $30+ for a marshal amiibo sdlkjgdsjh

Do we know the stats on how it worked in New Leaf? I swear campers felt more common then....
Anyways, I agree that campers are way to uncommon if you don't use amiibo. If they want us to use amiibos, then at least make them availabe to buy at retailers.

You can find hundreds of villagers on random island when you have an empty slot, so it doesn't seem unreasonable to have a camper as a random occurence within a week. Most of the time you'll have one you don't want anyway, and if people reset for a villager they might as well just timetravel to a camper day anyway.

It's also dumb that you literally cannot get campers 2 days in a row without amiibo. It wouldn't happen often, but I'd sometimes get campers 2 days in a row in NL. I liked that.

With the 20% cap, I only seem to get a camper once every few weeks at very best.

I've had nothing but bad experiences using Etsy, so I'd rather not go there again. x-x

In NL I never had a camper if I didn't have an "empty plot". I just recently allowed one of my villagers to move after 2 years without any changes to my lineup. Two days after Gloria moved out, I finally had a camper.

In NH, you can't find a villager on a mystery island if you don't have an empty plot (mimicking NL's campsite), but you can find a new villager despite having a full island through the campsite.

There's two methods of getting new villagers in the game, each with their pros and cons, and none of them were designed to be easily manipulated by the players without the use of amiibo. Even then, people found a way to cheat the system by manipulating the odds with TTing, which is what the campsite method is about. It's still easier than doing that organically, but it still demands time an patience.

i still think it's pretty dumb you can't find villagers on islands unless you have an empty slot. why not just make it so they can be invited to the campsite?

I’ve only had 3 campers since release day :/ Thought I was the only one.. it’s extremely annoying.

Inviting them to the campsite sounds like a fantastic idea, I'd prefer island hopping if it was more casual without the random move-in aspect.

Because that's not how the developers designed the game. They clearly didn't want people to get all their "dreamies" in one month.

Also, if they did that, there would be redundancy between both methods of acquiring new villagers. Even though they have the same purpose, they work differently by design. Could they cut one of the methods and stick with the other? Well, they could, but that wasn't their intention and it didn't match their views when they were designing the game. There is a reason why these things work the way they work.

I'm pretty sure campers are far, far, far more common in NH than in NL. I got like two in New Leaf over months of play. I get like two a week in NH. (I would like to swap the campsite luck for someone with meteor shower luck please and thank you.)

Other than my initial camper in the tutorial, I’ve literally never had an uninvited camper. It’s kind of pointless and we can’t even play games with the amiibo villagers!

Maybe they were more common for me because my 10th slot was always open. But I'd at least get one camper per week.
Now I get like one every three weeks.

I've had three: Weber, Mira and Lionel. On average, that's one per month.
