Can 2 people in your town participate in town day? I really want Jingles bag, But I don't want my main to do it because I'd feel horrible about it and I want to deliver my villagers gifts.

Yes. I have 4 characters in each of my 2 towns. Last year, I had all 8 characters deliver gifts to the villagers so I could get 8 wreaths & 8 pictures from Jingle. Only 2 characters in each of my 2 towns had ever talked to any of my villagers but they all could get the bag and deliver the gifts. Just make sure that the other characters are dressed in the Santa's outfit when you talk to Jingle. So your main character can deliver the gifts to the villagers and then bring out a 2nd character, but don't deliver the gifts after Jingle gives you the bag.
Good Luck & Happy Holidays.

Alright, I don't want to hijack OP's thread, but since the title is generic enough, I'd figure I'd ask it here since it's in the same vein of Toy Day. So the villagers all drop hints of what they want for Toy Day but it practically changes daily. What do I give them? The last thing they mentioned before I hand things off or the thing they mention most or ANY of the things they mentioned?

The descriptors they use shouldn't contradict each other, they should all be describing one item.

Thanks for clearing that up! That never occurred to me. I thought they were describing different items each time. For instance, first they want a red item, then some furniture, etc. So basically, red furniture? Or something like that?

Yep, that's exactly right! :) It's helpful to keep track by using a notepad or by using the notes feature on your 3DS.

As Faery said, that's right, and they do that because sometimes more than one villager will ask for the same colour of item or the same type of item, so you need to know exactly what to give them. c:

Thank you both! Now I know how to celebrate Toy Day properly!

is there a list of what the villigers will ask for or do you have to keep poking them and work it out. also do you have to buy the gifts yourself?

You need to get the clues from your villagers. Gamefaqs has a list for Toy Day. So if a villager give you a lamp that is white.
Look for Lamp on the list and find the white. Beside white it will say minimalist lamp.

Jingle will give you a bag and the gifts will be in there. You don't have to buy them.
Last year and this year I sent all of my villagers the small festive tree. A couple had to be mailed out two times but it was worth it.
Nice to go in their houses and see the trees.
