I was just browsing through some villagers and I found out...

Cally's name in japanese means Parsley

Poppy's name in japanese means Gummi

Erik's name in japanese means Chuck *ew*

Whitney's name in japanese means Bianca

Ankha's name is japanese means Nile *nile river etc*

Julian's name in japanese means julie *Maybe thats why he shud be a gal*

So the "real" names of the villagers are only the Japanese names?

Yeah but I'm wondering how that makes that name any more real than say, the Spanish, French, German, and every ther language version.

That's like saying my name isn't real in English because it came from a Hispanic place xD I'm just confused lol

All the characters are created in japan and that was their original name, the names in other languages are translated from that or english

Yes and I understand that, but I'm wondering how that makes them "real"
Why not use something more fitting like "original" because technically, it's their original names :P

They're typically not translated per se, just given alternate Western names, the Japanese word for Parsley is Paseri, for example.
Much as the Pokemon franchise.

I don't know the Japanese name, but beau means handsome in a language which I don't know

I think "original" is a better word to describe the Japanese words. Also, keep in mind that most of the names are written in Katakana so they are meant to resemble American names. For example, in Japanese, "banana" would be spelled out in Katakana since there are characters that supply for the word: ba-na-na. Looking at the names can give you an overall ideas.

One that I find kind of strange is Bliss/Caroline...
In the original Animal Crossing there was a squirrel named Bliss and their Japanese name was Caroline. When she came back in WW, CF and NL they decided to keep her Japanese name though.

was she also turned into a Genetic Lifeform and Disc operating system in a Science lab that uses portal guns?
