The crisis of not having a nice town

Find a path pattern that you like best and off you go! Once you've laid down your town's main path then the rest will just come naturally. Plant bushes, flowers, trees alongside the paths, get some nice PWPS, colour coordinate things etc.

It?s like Jarrad said, put down the paths first, and then work your way out from there.
You can visit my town if you need ideas, my dream code is in my signature.

Don't do it all at once. Start with a simple piece of path. Decide where the path goes, add patterns you need to do so.
YOu can then line the patterns with bushes and trees, make flower patches, etc. Should be better. :)

I'm facing this. SO what I'm doing is lining all my paths with flowers. I've lined one area with perfect apples and i'm working on putting holly bushes in between. Then, I'll work on organising PWPs and whatnot. I'm getting there.

I feel that way sometimes as well, especially when seeing other people's nice towns. I'd say that you shouldn't focus only on making your town nice to other people, but make it nice to yourself. Do whatever makes you happy with your town. If that means making it nice, then go ahead and make it nice.
To overcome it, maybe pick paths you like and arrange flowers in a way that you like, and plant trees and such.

I'm facing this problem too.. I've chosen a path but it's just one part of my town.. I just don't know where the paths should lead so I'm stuck. My town has been unfinished like this for quite a few months. ; ^ ;

I've put basic paths down that lead to all the necessary places (Re-Tail, town hall, plaza, etc) and then lined 'em with nature. Then, as my town grows, I can add, change, or delete some path to make it work. (I got rid of the pattern paths a while ago and just rely on the worn dirt paths with surrounding bushes and trees to form my paths, it's easier and less work in my opinion, especially since I like making clothes rather than cramming paths into my pattern pockets. It also deflates the need of a mule character.)

As you go, find places that would look much better with a PWP in them. Think of all the space in your town, and where everything would best go, and more importantly what is going to go in your town. (It wouldn't make sense to clash PWP themes if you want your town to be presented publicly, unless you can clash and mix it together very, very well.)
Bear in mind that bush connections in a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal fashion (connected trees included) can only go for up to 12 units; the 13th tree or bush will die.
Also know the wetsuit trick (for getting PWPs faster) and the new character/reset trick (for moving in new villagers [ruins your grass, I know, but sometimes it's worth keeping your paths clear]), as these can help you.
Remember that PWPs have buffer units (Isabelle will tell you their size if you try to put a PWP in a crampy space) and that seasons come and go, so unless you're going to constantly time-travel to keep your town in the same season, you oughta have paths that look good all year round.

Hope these help you!

I had this problem too, but I decided not too long ago to put down paths.

Once I did this, everything else kinda came into place. ^-^
It helps because you know where to plant bushes, flowers, and where to fill empty spaces with PWP.

I'd say just start with a path like I did, going to all the main places in your town.
Then build/decorate around that c:
