I recently reset my town and I've been playing the 8 day cycle to reset for villagers. I've moved in 8/9, and I started the next day a villager could move in to reset, and I'm finding that 9 won't move in. I've TT'd 3 days and villager 9 still won't plot. I did this once already in my second town, so I know 9 is supposed to plot....I just don't know why they're not plotting. There's plenty of space, I haven't put down any paths. I have 8, shown below.

Help?! Where is 9!

I thought 9 and 10 were via visiting other towns, or people visiting you, and picking up a voided villager, or inviting one from your campsite to move in.

Or use an amiibo.

That's just for the 10th. Ninth can randomly move in without streetpass/camp/amiibo. At least, that was what happened for me.

Not for me.

I went three months with 8 villagers.

Then I bought Wolfgang and Angus' amiibo cards.

Did you have any other move ins or outs the same day? Once, I had 2 plots open so I had a villager brought in via card and asked someone to move in from someone's town on the same day, neither one plotted for 2 days. (I know now, that you can only ask for one at a time per day)

Haven't had anybody move in or out besides the one villager that moves in every other day. The game is supposed to have a move in on day 2, 4, 6, and 8, totaling to 9 villagers. 2, 4, and 6 are supposed to be personality types you're missing, and 8 is supposed to be anybody. After you hit 9, the only way to get a 10th is via streetpass or amiibo or campsite.

Last time I did this I moved somebody in from the forum on day 6, and did have somebody move in on day 8! So I know it's definitely supposed to work like that.

Idk if it's worth mentioning, but I did have something odd with move ins/outs happen in my other town earlier. Two days ago I had Isabelle tell me Claudia was in boxes. Didn't play yesterday. Picked up that file for the first time since Thursday today to find Claudia still living in my town! I TT'd another day and she was gone. Odd.

Idk if my games are cursed or what.

Were you changing you nintendo clock? that's so weird.)

Yeah, I changed the nintendo clock because that's the only way to do it without loading your mayor. It's still the same thing as time traveling one day. I actually used to time travel like that until I realized you could do it via Isabelle.

The 9th villager comes in a random day, breaking the one move-in a day rule that applies to the 6th through 8th. :)
For some people it takes a day after the 8th for the 9th plot to appear, for some it's 10 days after. :)

oof alright. If I see no plot when I have an alt character up, if I don't plot and just load my mayor is it safe to say I won't have someone plotted that day? Creating and deleting alt characters just tears up the grass.

You shouldn't have any plots, I've been experimenting...

Lol well on the day I loaded an new file first, then loaded mayor, there's a plot. Lol. Nate is going to be 9! I love this game and how unpredictable it can be sometime. Oh, well. Least I still have my campsite villager.

The 9th villager plot could come anytime between the day the 8th villager has moved in to at least a week so better plot reset every time before loading your mayor to make sure (assuming you aren't planning to scan amiibo cards). The 10th will always come from inviting villagers from other towns or getting their void or from campsite.

I'll confirm what other posters are saying - the 9th villager can take a few days to appear, they always have for me within a few days or so of the 8th appearing. The actual day is not set in stone.

One thing I'll pick up on if you are plot resetting: I look around the town with the NSF - if I like what I see - and that might be no plot at all - you have to save with that NSF. If you don't and load with the Mayor - you may be lucky and have the same as you saw with the NSF, but you could easily see a difference - ie a villager plot which wasn't there with the NSF.

Its logical, because until you save nothing has been set. If that wasn't true then plot resetting itself would not work.
I know it leaves you with a bare space where the tent had been but I put the NSF in a out of the way spot and then after cover it with flowers.

Unfortunately, no. If you don't save with the plot scout character, there may be a plot when you load your mayor. To really be on the safe side, I'd cover the town in patterns leaving only places where you wouldn't mind the plot appearing. :)
