A few years back when the 3DS came out, I told myself no way am I buying a 3DS. NO WAY. Who needs the 3D? It's just another remade DS. I already have a DSi. What can they possibly make with it? It's too much money. I'm done with these video games.

Well, guess what. My Pikachu 3DS XL is sitting next to me as I type this.

Games will make people buy this system. Animal Crossing. Pokemon X & Y. Oh my gosh, sales are going to SCREAM when X and Y come out.

The PSP/PSV sucks. XBOX One and PS4 systems are probably going to be $700+ on launch. Do you think the average family is going to shell out $700 for a new gaming system this Christmas? Not counting $50 controllers and $60 (maybe $70?) games? Also not counting 50" LCD or LED TVs costing almost $1000 depending on models.

What's that 3DS system for $200? Games that are only $30-$35 each? It's 3D? Mario? Pokemon? Animal Crossing? Mario Kart? That's cool! Here little Timmy, Merry Christmas, it's a 3DS.

For those aged 20 to 30, nostalgia is setting in. They'll want to buy a 3DS. And they will. Like me.

More hardware sales = more developers = more great games. And it's starting next Sunday with New Leaf.

Animal Crossing is up to, what now, 240,000 preorders? Sales for the 3DS are already up 12% while almost every other system is flat? That's insane.

I'm glad to be part of the 3DS family.

Agreed. There's a LOT of really good games coming out for the 3DS, and along with the eShop nostalgia factor, it'll make good money.

I was anti 3DS for a long time too. I have a DSi XL...and the past few months I knew I was bound to get one, the games coming out for it were just too good. Animal Crossing is one of my favorite games, along with anything Mario. The AC special edition was what made it happen. It is so nice looking, I couldnt pass it up.

I was gonna buy a DSi XL, and I was saving enough for it... Until I saw the 3DS revealed that E3...

I instantly knew what I wanted. Got Ol' Red for next Christmas.

I think the New leaf 3DS looks too feminine; that's what's put me off buying it. (Although, I do already have a standard 3DS XL...) One of the main reasons why I bought a 3DS and 3DS XL the day they were released is because I saw the huge potential that they had. I just feel sorry for these "anti-3DS" folks that think that the 3DS was a waste of money- you've already missed out on the excitement and anticipation of the release of some awesome games. Even though this is kind of off topic to the thread, I still think it's relevant.

(Back onto topic.)
Nintendo has always been the big one to compete against for other gaming companies and it feels SO DAMN GOOD to know that all of those cod-xbox/ps3 hugging kids will still maintain their denial, thinking that their consoles are the "best" in the industry. Nintendo will always prevail and it's not surprising, but reassuring that it still manufactures the most successful hand-held console out there!

I actually went from original DS to 3ds (quite a jump)! I felt that I din't really need a DSi as long as I could play the games on DS original. But well the 3ds is supposed to be a whole new console so the moment they announced a new Pokemon game I leap to buy it off amazon for $120. I personally prefer Nintendo 3ds because I can carry it everywhere, and it plays Pokemon... Admittedly Nintendo 3ds is much more affordable than other consoles, and I feel the quality is usually better than other handhelds.
When they first launched the 3ds I was like that's it? It only plays games in 3-D? But once I realized it was the next generation console + Pokemon + animal crossing I started saving and researching! Now by having 2 consoles I can play 3 generations of Nintendo games! DS orginal= gameboy Advanced+DS games, 3DS= DS+3DS games! Just wait till Pokemon's release gets nearer, everyone is really excited about diagonal moment and being able to sit on benches, I'm betting that the 3DS sales will hit the roof!

I've had almost every DS out there, besides any of the DSis.
-Blue Brick
-Pink DS Lite
-Blue 3DS
-Pikachu 3DS XL.

And all of them, even with broken touchscreens or buttons, are still in my room as mementos like every other system I've had.

I agree that the 3DS is going to get an excellent sales boost pretty soon, but some of your info is a little skewed.

The PSP actually sold very well. It's still selling. Vita, not so much over here, but overseas it's doing fine.

The next gen consoles aren't going to be 700 bucks. That's just silly to even assume.

I agree with most everything said. Of course, the next gen consoles won't be $700... Expensive, but not $700 expensive.
HOWEVER: Sales for the 3DS will definitely explode leaps and bounds over what it is now. (Just to state the obvious.)

I was kind of hesitant to buy the 3DS at start, however a few days later I decided to buy it. One of the biggest selling points which drew me in was without the doubt the screen capacity. One of the main things which bugged me out about DS games were the corners on games like Animal Crossing Wild World and Harvest moon. The hand-held console simply couldn't keep up with smooth and round graphics which other consoles and hand-held consoles had (the PSP being an example.) The DS is great for playing games such as Pokemon and Professor Layton but it's when it starts to try to adopt a different theme and strays too far from the beloved "retro/modern" theme.

HOWEVER, I knew this wouldn't be an issue with the 3DS so that's pretty much why I bought it. I couldn't care less about the 3D or cameras to be honest! Although, I was quite surprised at how well they had implemented the 3 dimensions into the console. Whenever I watch 3D movies (very rarely) I always become nauseated and faint so again I was hesitant, however, I was more than comfortable with the 3DS' 3D-ness? :L

It's kind of disappointing that we won't see our much loved GBC/GBA games any time soon. It'd be magical if the GBC and GBA Pokemon games were released onto the e-shop with an improved PVP implemented (imagine a wifi battle on Pokemon Fire Red? How awesome would that be!) I think that it will eventually happen, but not for a very long time. Maybe some time after Pokemon X and Y sales begin to drop (hopefully!) I wasn't too keen on Pokemon x and y. I thought that they could of improved the free roam a lot better. I also didn't like the male and female characters as they simply didn't look anything close to the bad-ass characters in Pokemon Black/White. (They look kind of chibi...) IF pkmn x&y has a customizable character feature then without a doubt would I buy the game. I loved Pokemon Battle Revolution simply because of the battling! Now that that's kind of in Pkmn x and y I'm happy too. I'm not too keen on the new Pokemon though, I was expecting something a lot less cute and childish.

I bought the original DS for Wild World and skipped all DSi models. When the 3DS was first released at 299 here I laughed and thought 'no way.' I bought the pink one after the price dropped and the AC bundle because it is just beautiful.

It seems like the 3DS has been enjoying 'exploded' sales for a while now. So... I guess that means it would be atomic bomb explosion sales?

Lawl. :)

I, too, rejected the 3DS at first. I have had my DS lite for a long while. And I didn't even know the DSi existed until I got a 3DS.
I knew I wasn't going to use the 3D all the time, 'cause headaches. And I was already so fond of my DS lite...
But then they brought out the special edition Zelda 3DS. The fire nation attacked! And things changed.
I don't think I've ever wanted a handheld or a console more than when they announced the Zelda 3DS. o_o;

Only the avatar, master of all four elements could stop them.

The PSP doesn't suck you tasteless ****.

It's on par and if not better than the DS.

That's certainly debatable. It's mostly personal preference and opinion. And there's no need to be rude, sheesh.
