I’m sick and tired of getting infractions for reporting people.

Maybe the mods should do their job and actually give people infractions that deserve it so other members don’t have to call them out when they do something wrong.

There is an 11/10 chance that instead of getting a serious reply to this, I will just get an infraction. Just watch.

This is one of the reasons I do not like reporting people (not just on here, but in general). I do not want to get involved in the rigmarole, and/or possibly get accused of false reporting. On another site, I reported a troll who was being toxic to me and someone else, and the mods said the post in question wasn't bad. ._.

Hi @Myco!

The infraction you received was not given in response to a report you made.

Before you reported the content, you also posted publicly to tell another user you believed they were breaking the rules. This is what is referred to as mini-modding, and we warn for such posts since they often cause unnecessary confusion or clean up work.

Using the actual report button is not something we ever warn people for, unless they very intentionally abuse the feature.

Examples of this are completely meaningless reports, or reports used to make demands, jokes, or sarcastic comments.

If you genuinely think something breaks the rules, please do report it. If we end up deciding the content does not need to be moderated, we will simply reject the report and take no action. This is absolutely fine and you will not receive any warnings or otherwise get in trouble when that happens.

Next time you see a post that you believe breaks the rules or requires our attention, please only report it and don't comment on it publicly. If you would like to discuss this further, please make a thread in the Contact the Staff board. Thanks!
