Tabby's instant muscle suit has to go - advice needed

It's almost been a year since oblivious little me delivered a package to Tabby and ever since she owns an instant muscle suit, the worst article of clothing there ever was. I've filed countless complaints with Isabelle. Currently I'm trying to catch up a couple of months I missed, meaning I'm somewhere in October and TT ahead every time I run out of things to do for the day. I'm super motivated and inspired to really get back into the game, giving my whole island a makeover, but I realized that Tabby is wearing her muscle suit every. single. day. and it's just too much! I have given her cute dresses which she rarely wears, her first choice is always that suit. Every day. At this point, Tabby is the only villager I don't enjoy running into, because she is almost certainly wearing that crime against good taste and that makes me like her signiffcantly less.
I seem to recall that villagers can only own a certain number of clothing articles, does anyone know how many exactly? And more importantly: Do the same kind of clothes count multiple times? Like, could I get Tabby ten of the same dress?
The suit has to go and if there's no other way, then Tabby will have to go with it. That would make me sad since I've had her for such a long time, I really love the exterior of her house and find her pretty cute overall, but as long as she keeps wearing that muscle suit, she is a foe to me.
Has anyone ever gotten rid of a villager due to their wardrobe choices?
I feel like I could live with it if she was just wearing a regular dress or shirt in a color or pattern I don't like, but the instant muscle suit is a very special case.

Oof, you have my sympathy. Someone once gifted Del a Baby Romper on my island- but, fortunately, he wasn't a permanent resident. But he became a much faster moveout when he started to run around in a baby blue romper with a bib.

IDK how many clothing items they can store, but maybe you could try giving her some items that would match her preferences? This link has a tool to show you the items villagers will LOVE- you could pick some you find cute and give her a bunch. From my experience, they tend to wear those a lot.
Some cute options I noticed on there- Tiger-face Tee Dress (black), Pirate Dress (black), Figure-skating Dress (black), Bubble-skirt Party Dress (black, I think it's one of the new prom items), Ballet Outfit (black), Astro Dress (pink(
Unfortunately it looks like she has rather... interesting tastes (I'm afraid the instant muscle suit is well-liked by her, but I guess you don't need me to tell you that) so it may be hard to find really cute stuff.
Also, keep in mind giving her a lot of clothing WILL mess up her house. But it sounds worth it to get that suit off her

Give them something like 28 bits of clothing and the muscle suit should be removed from their roster. Just make sure those other clothing items are ones you want them to wear.

Also they may or may not have a lot of shirts in their house as furniture after that.

I'd take the baby romper over the muscle suit any day, but it certainly isn't a great look. Especially for a tough looking alligator

28? Wow, that's a lot. Do you know if they have to be different items or can I give one multiple times?

The choice between having a villager mess up their house with an excessive amount of clothes or letting them make themselves look unpleasant until the end of days actually seems rather extreme for the crime of simply trying to be a friendly neighbor and delivering a package ☹

In my experience, if you gift clothes first they'll be displayed, but if you gift a few floor house items, they fill up spots with those and won't be as likely to display clothes. Maybe gift a couple house plants or a vacuum, and then gift the clothes (no hats.) Hopefully if you gift her something she loves, she'll put away the muscles.

Yah, it seems she has a rather punky sort of style- definitely not what I'd expect from a peppy! But, IDK, I kind of like her a little more now for it

In my experience, if you gift clothes first they'll be displayed, but if you gift a few floor house items, they fill up spots with those and won't be as likely to display clothes. Maybe gift a couple house plants or a vacuum, and then gift the clothes (no hats.) Hopefully if you gift her something she loves, she'll put away the muscles.

This usually works (I always gift furniture to villagers after clothes, so they generally end up displaying mostly furniture) but sometimes they just REALLY seem to like the clothes. Like Teddy- I gave him furniture, which he replaced the one shirt he was displaying with. But then he would only replace that piece of furniture, and he absolutely refused to replace the hat I gave him under ANY circumstances
And for some reason, some villagers just display a lot of clothes. I've started giving Hopkins furniture because he had, like, FOUR different clothing items displayed at once. I didn't even know they could do that!

It can be the same shirt multiple times, Ive had to do the same to get rid of the muscle suit from cherry.

But you may as well throw some nice shirts in the mix as well. Head over to harvs island, plan some cute outfits and see what happens.

That's good advice, thank you! I think her house is decently filled with fish and plants, but maybe I'll give her something else, just in case.

Now I'm actually happy that Tabby was the one ending up with the muscle suit and not Cherry. It would look so much worse on her!
But it's a relieve that I can gift items multiple times.

aww. I have to admit, I love tabby so much I feel like she kind of pulls it off . But like you I would hate it if she was wearing it all the time. On my island my tabby wore a cycling shirt for a while that I hated so much. I would give her new clothes whenever I saw her in it, and one day to my relief, she actually gave it to me as a return gift! I don’t know how common that is (it has happened a few times to me with different villagers) but she never wore it again!

in terms of the clothing getting displayed, i will often give my villagers house plants if they are displaying clothing or the many many trash cans/ garbage pails they buy from me. It does a good job replacing the offending item and generally will look good with the rest of their house!

I really like tabby in the kimono, they look very cute on her .

And yes, she is the best host of all. She also dispenses her best advice from her ‘throne’

When Olaf came to my island, he owned a vampire custom which he gave to me within the first few days upon his arrival. But Tabby has had (and unfortunately loved) her muscle suit for almost a year, so I kind of gave up hope about her getting rid of it.

It is nice to see Tabby get some love, she is such a sweetheart and very underrated

Fortunately I haven't had a lot of ugly clothing infiltrate my islands(except for Rodney's fugly relay tank).In New Leaf it was hard to get villagers to wear specific clothing items but in New Horizons they'll throw anything on.I think Moritz has the right idea.Several more outfits should bump the muscle suit out of Tabster's inventory.Tabby is a good model for some of the more unusual looking outfits.Jambette gave her a ninja costume that looks surprisingly good on her and I gave her a visual punk dress so she could look visually punk.

The punk dress seems like a good option, only reason I haven't given it to her yet is that Annalisa and Cherry already own one and I don't want all of my villagers to wear the same. But yes, I will definitely try to get her to cycle out the muscle suit so she can stay on my island.

I have Pancetti in an instant muscle suit, along with her favourite black cyber shades. Really not a great look for a pig. I feel sorry if anyone else ends up with her dressed like that when she leaves me!
