If I have completed a stage and not had to have the Cosmic Guide appear, will it affect my Gold Stars and turn them Bronze if I ever do die many times or someone else playing does and activate it?

As far as I understand, as long as you complete it without help you'll get a gold star.

As long as you don't talk to the Cosmic Guide, you won't end up with any Bronze Stars.

If you've already completed the level and got the gold Star, then you'll never get a bronze Star, even if you do activate the Cosmic Guide.
