I am sorry to post my pitty problems here, but it saves me from driving the ones I know personally up a wall, (if I haven't done so already) x.x

Basically I am having work problems, my hours have been cut down to 16 hours a week, and I am contemplating if I should pick up another part time job and just work two jobs.

Or just bite the bullet and barely get by until I can just apply for a full time job after september.

Anyone else stressed out about things in their life?

I feel you. My contract for my job ends in 39 days, and I haven't found a new job yet. I have sent in over 40 applications, and I have had two interviews - obviously one I did not get the job, and I don't think I got the other. I have car payments to worry about, on top of that I need to move out, and I have my wedding next year. Just the thought of being unemployed and dealing with my financial situation is stressing me out.

I am really banking on one job application, but the hiring process takes about 4-5 months - and that's if a position opens up. Then on top of that, I am debating if I should have a complete career change and go for a police officer. My biggest concern is that I will need lasik before I can even apply (and with no job in sight I can't afford it). This is something I am not completely sold on yet. And on top of that, the application process is long as well.

As for your problem, I would personally get a second job. Even if it's something as small as two shifts a week it's better than nothing. I've worked two part-time jobs before, once I was working full-time at one job, and part-time at another. As long as you can schedule your hours to fit each other - it's better than being broke and tight on money. Especially if any unexpected expenses pop-up in the next couple of months.

Well my concern with a second job is not having a set schedule and becoming too overwhelmed with no time for myself and others. They would both be retail jobs, and I would practically be selling my soul to the devil. lol
I don't think I would ever get a day off at that point.
I sent in an application for game stop to be a Game advisor and thats only on call, but I think they want me to have set days off and if they need me then they would call me. But that means I would be limiting my one job even more for just a maybe.
Or I could apply for the other position and its like a management position with more responsibilities and it is gauranteed 20 hours but I am afriad my other job will pick up and i will be working like 50 hours a week.

I recently found out that my best friend from sixth grade (we recently graduated high school) is moving away by the end of this week and so is my other close friend next year because their dads found a new job.

Don't you have a set availability? When I was working retail we would fill out what days and evenings we are available. You could always change it and between two jobs ensure you have one day off at least. For example, at job 1 you are available to work Sunday to Tuesday and at job two you can work on Thursday to Saturday - or even work one shift in the morning and one at the evening so you get your hours.

Also, on the other hand, you could always quit one of the jobs once your hours pick up again. The turnover in retail can be quite high, so quitting isn't always such a big deal.

I'm stressed out simply looking for work :(

Sorry about your hours being cut, that's pretty annoying situation
I'd suggest looking for work whilst carrying on at your current job and leaving as soon as something better comes up

I'd recommend picking up another part time job too. I've taken the past year off school and I've been working at a university. Thing is that once spring/summer session started (in May) my hours got cut back like crazy due to less students (no wonder I joined this site in May). Anyways in a few weeks I'll be writing a $9000 cheque for tuition and I'm really starting to regret not working a second job these past few months.

I've worked a lot of jobs, and there have been two times in my life where I've worked two jobs simultaneously, and one of those times was also while I was in college full time. Honestly it really depends on the type of job you're applying for and how your higher ups treat you.

The second post of yours mentions working Gamestop and being "on call", and something like that I have to give a big fat NO recommendation. I've been there, one of my part time jobs after moving out was "on call", and it's super stressful and if you're trying to balance another job with an actual schedule, depending on the manager at the "on call" place, you could get chewed up pretty badly. If you have a nice manager at the "on call" place, it could work out really well.

If you can work two jobs with set schedules, that would be ideal, at least in my experience. That's what I did while also joggling college, and it worked out great. The two jobs were a grocery store ~34 hours a week and GameStop for 6~12 hours a week. GameStop was shorter shifts after classes on class days (sometimes after working the grocery store if I was there in the morning) and the grocery store was long shifts on non-class days. I didn't have much time for socializing, but I didn't really care to go out and do stuff anyway.

Sorry if that's not especially helpful. There are a lot of factors at play, and I don't want to influence you into the wrong decision, so I just wanted to give my experience in hopes that it helps you reach the decision that best suits you.

As for the topic - Well, I don't really want to unload too much of my personal life, but according to the Life Change Stress Test I score about 611 points. Last year was full of changes and losses for me and mine, and I'm just starting to feel almost normal again.

Yup. Stressed out. About what to do in the future, to get a job, to find a job, to apply for a job :/ Gah

Stressed out here as well, can't find a job after months. Wondering if I should go back to school even though I can't afford it. Sigh

Being an adult sucks >.>
