I know about some ways to get more storage like creating new characters and use their storage (I don't want other houses in my town) and saving mail but it's still very limited! Oh there is also the museum exhibits but it's messy and if you have whole sets to store, it gets full quite fast, same thing with gracie's clothing items.

Is there a way to get more storage that I don't know about?

I think that's basically it. I don't want other characters so I either put it in the museum or in my mail. If not I force myself to sell it to retail.

You can store clothes in the island basket by wearing the clothes when you visit your island, then you can put it in the basket.

You can use the letters in your inventory and saved letters at the post office as a way to store extra items (as attached presents).

If you storage them, that means you are not using them. If so, then why do you want to keep them forever?
