Redwood City, CA - February 12, 2008 - Get ready for the next Big Bang this fall! Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) and Maxis today announced that Spore, the highly anticipated game from the creators of The Sims, will be available at retailers worldwide the weekend of September 7. Spore will be available for the PC, Macintosh, Nintendo DS, and mobile phones.

The wait is almost over, said Maxis Chief Designer Will Wright. Were in our final stages of testing and polish with Spore, and the team at Maxis cant wait to see the cosmos of content created by the community later this year.

Spore gives players their own personal universe in a box. Create and evolve life, establish tribes, build civilizations, sculpt entire worlds and explore a universe created by other gamers. Spore gives players a wealth of creative tools to customize nearly every aspect of their universe: creatures, vehicles, buildings, and even UFOs. Players can then seamlessly share their creations with the world or explore infinite new galaxies created by other gamers.

Consumers can visit www.spore.com to sign up for the Spore newsletter or check out all-new screenshots and video of the game. Members of the media can visit EAs press site at www.info.ea.com for information about all of EAs games.

Details on the Wii version:

- the Wii version is in in the design stage right now and the Wii game wont come at launch with PC, MAC and DS versions. There is no date at the moment
- the Wii version will not be the same as the PC
- looking into multi-platform creature sharing
- putting a lot of time into making appropriate games for the appropriate platforms
- looking into downloadable content for all platforms

Are you going to be buying Spore?
I'm going to buy it. At the moment, I'm going to get the Nintendo DS version but I may also buy the Wii version.

Looks like some I might enjoy. I'll have to learn a little more about it first.

I've heard it's coming out for the 360 too, in which case that's what I'll be getting it for.

And yes, I'm definately getting it. I've been looking forward to it for a long time.

Woah. I've heard of this title, but never actually saw anything about it.

I'm definitely picking this up for the pc.

^more info there if you are interested.

Also, PC version FTW.
yeah the PC version is going to be the best IMO, and if they pull it off right, the DS version could be a close second, because using a mouse is more comfortable than moving a cursor/circle on the floor around with an analog stick to me.

EDIT: Ok, WOW. I just looked a bit more into Spore, and it seems freaking amazing! Can't wait!

Storm, it's really not gonna' be all that great for the Wii, or the DS, I'm guessing.

Because the game's all about working with other people online, right? So your best bet is to go for PC version. If not that, then the 360.

Actually, EA is bypassing the Friend Codes stuff and instead doing their EA Nation service from what I've heard, which is a lot like Xbox LIVE.

The DS version is completly different, more focused on character creation if I'm right.

I'll still probably pick it up for the PC cause I could get some guff for "hogging" the TV.

heh

PC is where this game is meant to be played.

I agree with you... but I doubt Will Wright is gonna make a half-assed version for the other consoles.

Anything's possible, though.
