Do you have to be a certain level to participate in a Splatfest? I have taken my copy out of the cellophane, but I have yet to actually play the game.

no, you can participate at any level (I just got it the day before the original date, and it still let me choose a side)

It is open, surprisingly... I just have never put the disc into the Wii U and loaded it up...
