Super anxious that i skipped seeing who was at the campsite a couple or maybe even a few times on accident when i was time traveling to get someone to move... im worried because it may have been a dreamie of mine and they may not come back for a very very long time... at this point im feeling like i have to get amibos.. and i feel conned in a sense because now i feel even more inclined to spend the money on amiibos and overall im dissapointed that this game has implemented money into it more after already purchasing the game.. for some reason i didnt know about amiibo cards for new leaf but i also saw an ad on facebook to buy bells and it really had me shook.. and then theres the whole 1 island per switch thing..

Neither the bells from the ad on Facebook nor the amiibos are being sold by Nintendo (right now anyway - until they reprint the amiibo cards outside of japan). So be careful! And with amiibo’s shop around for a good price. The packs being sold on amazon, for example are coming from third party sellers, not from Nintendo or amazon. Not that this means you can’t buy them, but just be aware, so you can avoid scammers or paying too exorbitant prices.

Edit: I decided to add this, but please feel free to ignore, I don’t want to tell you how to play. -but don’t feel too bad or rushed to get your villagers. Ideally, I imagine you wan to play for a long time, so you will have plenty of time to get the villagers you like. they will turn up in your game or for trade! I know if can feel like everyone else is running a race and you are falling behind, but the journey can be part of the fun!

I've bought quite a few amiibo cards and figures, and it was worth it - in New Leaf, when you could get items from RV's.

They're still a good investment if you want a certain villager.

You don't know who those villagers were and there is nothing you can do to change that, so try not to assume the worst. Right now your thought process on this is leaning toward irrational. You have not been conned and there is no reason to feel pressured to spend money on amiibo if you do not want to.

You don't have to spend real money on villagers. Alot of people in this forum have amiibo cards and will do amiibo cycling for TBT or IGB. This is how I get most of my villagers.
Its so difficult to cycle out certain villagers though and then i dont have wifi at my house so it really drained me doing that.
Itd be so much easier to have an amiibo kick someone... and plus theres only 10 plots with hundreds of villagers... ofcourse the games enjoyable but that doesnt make it less of a con for money....

While I do understand that you want to get rid off certain villagers asap and replace them with your dreamies, I would recommend to go slowly on this without putting yourself in any stress. As already said here, you don't know who those villagers on the campsite were and it's the best to just forget about them. I also once time travel to kick an villager out and missed two villagers on the campsite by doing this, of course you wonder who they were, but now they are gone, therefore their identity is not important anymore. If you plan to go get some amiibos, then take your time and look for the best offers to save as much money as possible. You can get some cards (also fan made ones) for cheap if you look at the right places (I heard etsy is a good place for an example).

If your Dreamies' Amiibo cards are being sold at outrageous prices (I've seen some being sold for, like, half the price of the base game. Like, what? XD) you could always go for an NFC card. They're very inexpensive and work just as well.

They don't have much of a resale value but, for the price that they typically cost, it's not really worth it to try and resale them, you may as well just work a few hours.

I have the capabilities on my phone to make them but id rather purchase them from a fan made person on etsy.. ebay is outrageous which was the first place i looked...

I just realized that nintendo really doesnt even sell them.. sorry i have to hear things numerous times to believe it.. Thats so wierd that its such a big thing.... but i geuss they did at some point but idk when... im just surprised that theyre so common and how easy it is to just recreate them baffles me.. it seems kindve idiotic to buy amiibo cards from someone else who made them when you could do the same thing ans make them for free... im not made of money over here.. so thats kindve putting me off about the amiibos

I havent ever had an amiibo or experienced it so idk this is just so wild to me overall still

This doesn't make any sense. You're complaining that Nintendo is trying to con you out of money (they're not), say you can make the NFC tags yourself for next to no cost, but then prefer to buy them from someone on Etsy.

Are you sure this isn't just an attempt at getting attention?

Umm no.

Obviously they are making the game for money... and making a lot of it

& whats your point?

If i had the option i wouldve deleted this thread the moment it was made

Nintendo makes their money off of you buying the game.

That's it. All the income they're getting from New Horizons is from the game itself, maybe the odd amiibo here and there (but new ones aren't being produced for the game). Ads you see about buying New Horizons Bells are NOT by Nintendo and should NEVER be clicked. In fact, Nintendo says selling in-game things (including villagers) for real money is against the rules, minus amiibo cards.

I've never had an amiibo villager before and I still end up with villagers I really want. It's a lot of patience!! Its your own fault you've time travelled and missed campsite villagers. You'll get good villagers eventually, just be patient and mindful when you time travel.

I mean I get what you mean about getting Dream villagers but there are people who have amiibos and will give you them for free or the forum currency you don’t have to spend money I’m not sure if you made this thread for advice or maybe you didn’t know but check to the new neighbor thread as long as they have a amiibo you can get them

If you don’t want to do that then just wait a little I’m sure you’ll get them soon

I understand that you may not have wifi, but it may be worth considering why you're playing the game. Is it just for the villager grind? Then sure, maybe you missed out, but I doubt nintendo is "conning" you into buying amiibos, so to speak. What do you want to do after finishing the grind?

You don't need amiibos to enjoy the game. Dreamie hunting is a self-manufactured problem. Do you just want certain villagers because they're popular? Why not be happy with whoever you manage to pick up island hopping or playing the game slowly like many others do?

I agree a lot with this post I mean if you didn’t already have a switch it would be a lot of money to even play the game right?

The whole conning thing and amiibos is unrelated considering nintendo is loosing money on that [atleast for now but werent in the beginning] they did come up with it im assuming but its more like people are now conning nintendo and the consumers for amiibos and nintendo is conning for the second switch for a second island

But i am glad to see that nintendo doesnt want us buying bells or villagers for money..but that seems kindve ironic.. i thought the ad came from nintendo perhaps... which is what spooked me.. facebooks ads are really the worst and thats some real con artistry for ya

I haven't bought any amibos but there are villagers I want just from their pictures. I'm in the mindset though that the challenge is finding them and I'm having fun cycling through the villagers that I meet as I may end up liking them more than what i perceive as my ideal villagers. Remember it's just a game and it should bring enjoyment, and not to worry yourself as it's your island and it can take as long as you want it to 😁
