Spending bells by posting

Hey all,

I'm a bit of a bell tree newbie, and I stumbled upon a log of all the times I earned bells for posting. This makes sense to me,longer post = more bells. But sometimes when I post, I spend bells. Does anyone know why this happens? Is it for posting in my own thread or posting too often? I'm curious

I edit them sometimes, either for spelling, or cause I thought of something that I should have said in addition. Does editing take bells away to discourage editing?

I spend bells when I edit posts and when I post merge (which is when you write on a thread and then write something else right after, so it merges into one). Hopefully that helps!

You're not losing any Bells. It's a recalculation to ensure you're not receiving more than you should when editing. Don't worry about it.

@Melissa-Crossing: Post merges are edits so you get the same effect there.

Lets say you post a 500 char post.

Lets then say you edit it, and it's now 450 chars.

Editing the post will remove the 500 char bell amount you got and replace it with the 450 char bell amount.

I hope that makes sense xD
