hmmm I have never owned or played a Harvest moon game it never really made me want them.

Recently since seeing a few trailers of the new Harvest Moon the lost valley got me really excited (which is rare)
and couldnt stop thinking about buying it today. The graphics are very cute, i get to design my own little area and i get to attend to cute animals, sounds like my perfect kinda game.

That is untill i read the reviews. fans saying they have gone away from the original series of games (which i dont know as i have never played them before).

anyway i wanted peoples opinions who actually own and have played the game, weather a new commer or fan to the series can give me some insite to the game. Im not worreis if its gone away from the previous games i just want to know is the lost valley any good :)

DO NOT BUY IT!!!
Seriously... it's terrible. You can never leave your farm. And your farm is just a bunch of rocks.

Do yourself a favor and get "Harvest Moon: DS cute" on Amazon instead. It's for the original DS. Is it old? Yes. Are the graphics good? Well, no, but they work. It is by far the best Harvest Moon ever made. I am so mad that I lost my copy, so I think I will be buying another one while I can still get it. I can give you more details if you want, but that's the jist of it. Just make sure, if you want this game, to get "cute" edition and not the regular "Harvest Moon DS".

Regular HM DS is really glitchy. DS Cute fixed all the glitches. The only difference between the two other than that is DS you play as a man, in Cute you're a woman farmer. This affects who you can marry but nothing else.

Ask me any questions, it's one of my favorite games of all time. ;)

That game is absolutely awful. Complete garbage. And I've been playing HM since I was about 8. So over 10 years now. I've played almost all the big titles except HM64 and a few on gameboy.
It's not fun, it takes so long to do anything, and "building your own little area" is crap.
If you want something good try the newest HM. It's not as farm based as the older ones so it's pretty good for a beginner. Or as recommended DS or DS cute.

If you want Harvest Moon then get Story of Seasons. Story of Seasons is actually the latest game in the mainline Harvest Moon series, however it's not called "Harvest Moon" in the west because of copyright reasons with the previous publisher.

Oh, definitely. I would highly recommend HMDS. So much cool depth to that game~! Definitely my favourite in the HM series, even if it's graphics aren't exactly much to look at.

Although.. I never noticed any glitches with regular HMDS compared to HMDS Cute. I thought there was only a few patch changes and the obvious - you play as a female character instead of a male one.

I recall there actually being TWO versions of HMDS released in America, though - the first version (1.0) basically being recalled and a new bugfixed version (1.1) being released. Us Europeans only had the bugfixed version (1.1), so that's mayhaps why I didn't recall any glitches.

( Though admittedly, my opinions on HM games probably aren't the best, as I pretty much abandoned Harvest Moon around when Grand Bazaar was released after having played Rune Factory and finding it infinitely better ;U -- Although admittedly, I was thinking about getting Story of Seasons.. only to find out it's not released in Europe! The HM devs always seem to forget about us. ;< Took over a year just to localize Rune Factory 4 - which is made by the same people. )

If you're interested in Harvest Moon, I highly suggest going with Story of Seasons.

The graphics are awesome and the gameplay is flexible and relaxing, much like Animal Crossing. You have a large farm that you can design anyway you want (you can build different house/barn/coop styles, build a sewing shed, a winery, etc., add decorations like fences, roads, sculptures, fountains, etc.). Further on in the game you can even design certain areas of the town.

Also, if you like cute animals Story of Seasons will let you have numerous pets (lots of different styles of cats and dogs) as well as livestock (everything from camels to angora rabbits to alpacas).

SOS also has a lot of character customization, you can choose the color and style of your hair and eyes as well as make your own clothing and accessories. It's also a great game if you like cooking; you can cook many of the crops you harvest and also add your own seasoning, make cheese from scratch, etc.

Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley is actually a considerably hard game with mediocre gameplay. It's a Harvest Moon game by name only; the developers are now working on Story of Seasons.
