I'm actually excited about this. I'll probably be maining as Cole McGrath (I think I saw him in there a few times) and hopefully they'll throw Sackboy in. Who do you hope to see and what are your thoughts?

Please no "THEY COPIED SSB!!11!1!11". 2D fighting games have become somewhat of a commonality nowadays. I'm just glad it's not like Tekken x Street Fighter or Marvel x Capcom. There are too many Arcade-style games with impossible combos. Hopefully this won't be a button-mashing game, either.

This looks awesome! Unfortunately I don't own a PS3, but if I did I would get this. I'd like to see Spyro (the old one not the new one) he has tail attacks and breath abilities.

yes spyro and id consider buying a PS3 just for this

Holy craaaaaaap. =D

I'd love to see Jak and Daxter put into this, and a good looking Mega Man, not that weird crap they pulled off with him being muscled and old. lol

I'm pumped for this, blew my mind though that people were mad it looks like Smash Bros. Shouldn't that make it seem like it'll be great then? If I can actually get into an online match with it, I'll be satisfied for quite awhile.

It's amusing how some people can say games rip off of other games but the fact it is part of a genre means it will inevitably be similar to other games of its genre due to the same core elements. I don't see how that is bad at all unless they simply are effortlessly ripping but this looks completely different to the Super Smash Bros. "style" of fighting. If anything, I am happy more SSB-styled fighting games are coming out as I find it much more enjoyable than Street Fighter.

Wish I didn't sell my PS3. Oh well, it's only one game. Looks like so much fun!

Look's promising. Wonder if they might add some older characters like Crash, or Spyro (both have Playstation 1 roots), or even Daniel Fortesque from MediEvil.

I'm sure if Sony can convince Activision to they would. I can't wait to see who else is in it.

This thread is five months old but I noticed that the current roster of confirmed characters hasn't been posted yet. I apologize for the bump but seeing as this topic is still near the top I thought another topic would be unnecessary and I hope to bring back discussion. On the off-chance those interested in the game aren't aware of the 20 launch characters I'd like to condense the characters and their super attacks for you.

Here is the only announced battle style. According to ign:

By building a special meter for each character -- a la Street Fighter or Marvel vs. Capcom -- players can unleash a torrent of special attacks that grow in power the higher the meter gets. For instance, Sly Cooper's standard first level attack might be fairly unimpressive, but his second level attack allows him to bomb enemies from above and can easily kill everyone on the screen. And if you get to a third level attack, watch out: Colonel Radec will get into a body-encompassing machinegun from Killzone 3, while Sweet Tooth turns into a gigantic truck to rain down destruction on his foes. These attacks spell almost certain death for everyone else on-screen. So far in the game modes announced for the game, players can only get killed by super attacks.

To build the super meter, characters collect orbs called Action Points (AP balls). Orbs are received through attacking, certain moves, and the Nanotech Crate item. Orbs can also be knocked from opponents through certain means, like environmental hazards and using items similarly to SSB.

The first difference players will notice is the lack of a "Percentage Meter" and in its place a "Super Meter", similar to what can be found in many other fighting games. Unlike those games however, people playing All-Stars will not be able to find a Health-Bar either. Instead, players build up their "Super Meter" which will allow them to excecute one of 3 levels of supers, depending on how much "AP" they have aqcuired. With "AP" being the resource players use to build their "Super Meter". In this game, supers are one-hit insta-kills and unblockable, with their power relying more on how many players they can take out. They are also the only way to kill.

Confirmed Characters:

Nariko, Heavenly Sword: Can apparently call on Kai for some twin-twang crossbow aid, use hand-cannons from her game, and transform into her goddess form for her supers.

Sir Daniel Fortesque, MediEvi: His trailer. I am a huge fan of his super-attacks: aim-able lightning spell to name one.

Raiden, Metal Gear: Big on cornering with sword combos. You can bet a super has to do with boxes.

Radec, Killzone: Expect heavy artillery.

PaRappa the Rapper, PaRappa the Rapper: I think the trailer in the OP gives a pretty solid impression of him. His final super is a song that is guaranteed to eliminate every player.

Sweet Tooth, Twisted Metal: A pretty explosive, chaotic guy. His supers range from bombs to his signature vehicle.

Kratos, God of War: Kratos is very oriented around his Blade of Olympus. Except destructive, sweeping abilities.

Fat Princess, Fat Princess: From riding a giant chicken to summoning villager hoards to attack you, this butterball looks like a formidable opponent.

Sly Cooper, Sly Cooper: His block is not a shield or anything of the sort. It's his signature invisible stealth maneuver. Watch out, he has The Murray, his jetpack, and a binocucom that eliminates you instantly with one snapshot.

Nathan Drake, Uncharted: "Drake summons the Sarcophagus of El Dorado turning all other players into Descendants and uses Eddy Raja's golden gun to get as many kills as possible." Impressive final super there, Nathan.

Big Daddy, BioShock 2: His super attacks are surprisingly resourceful from summoning a little sister, gaining a devastating power boost, and submerging the entire stage full of water.

Toro Inoue: If you live in Japan you probably recognize this guy as a major Sony mascot. This little guy can pack a punch. His final super is a baseball bat that clears the entire screen of players.

Cole MacGrath, Infamous: Careful. Cole might just take you out with Kinetic Pulse, Ionic Freeze, or a controlled Ionic Vortex.

Dante, Devil May Cry (Upcoming Title): Most impressive is his finishing attack that slows time for players and allows him to eliminate you with his sword.

Spike, Ape Escape: He has the ability to capture you in his time net, club you with charged stun-clubs, and bring an orbital laser down on entire stage.

Heihachi, Tekken: Can summon Kuma and strap you to a rocket among other things.

Jak and Daxter, Jak: Use gun mods, Daxter, and light/dark Jak.

Evil Cole MacGrath, Infamous: His Ionic Drain can drain you to death and steal your valuable AP points.

Ratchet and Clank, Ratchet and Clank: Break out your wrench, the RYNO V, Clank's time bombs, Aphelion, and more.

Sackboy, LittleBigPlanet: I think his coolest super is his final super that renders enemies into prize balls, personally.

This leaves me with one final question. Where is Lara Croft? Of course, with Ratchet, Sly, Jak and Daniel in, I'm sold. So, any new opinions with this in mind or after the months that have past?
