Hi all! I've never time time traveled in New Horizons... Not because I think there's anything wrong with it, I just never had a reason to. But someone has offered me a villager I REALLY want if I can free up a spot on my island and I'm gonna go through some threads in here to try and figure out the best way to get them to move (I think it's gonna be Rocket or Peck if anyone wants em?) ASAP
But do I just... Change my Switch's clock? Is there an option in the game? If I go forward one day and then back to today will that count as traveling two days?

I usually don't time travel either but was stuck in the same predicament as you, so I followed these steps!

  1. I didn't want to spoil anything, so I began TT'ing backwards one month by saving and quitting the game and manually changing the clock in the Switch Settings. (Totally optional)
  2. Then I opened the game and saved and quit. This way it saves the new time. Next I went back to my switch settings and went forward 15 days and set the time to 12pm.
  3. I opened the game once more and went around seeing if any of my villagers had a "bubble." If so, I made sure the game manually saved (by looking for the little blue circle in the upper right hand corner), and then confirmed that they wanted to move by talking to them. Here is where the fun begins:
If IS the villager you want to move out: Tell them to move and save and quit. Then TT forwards to them in boxes or empty plot.

If this IS NOT the villager you want to move out: In the middle of the convo (without giving them a yes/no answer), soft reset the game by going to Home and pressing "x" to close the game. Then reopened the game and saved and quit. TT to the next day, and the bubble will have most likely passed to someone else. Keep TT'ing one day at a time until it lands on the villager you want to move.

Hope this helps, and feel free to lmk if you have any questions! :)

Thank you so much! I'm gonna try this tonight and I'll be back I suppose if I run into any issues XD

I used to save and quit, close the game completely, change the time on the Switch, reopen the game. That was taking too long and I found out that if the game is currently running (and not on the title screen), hit the home button and change the time. Go back to the game and save and quit. When you press A on the title screen, it will be the new date/time. It saves a lot of time imo.

just a note - you don't have to save and quit! when you see the thought bubble on a villager you don't want to move out you can just quit (go to home and close the game) without talking to them, change the date to the next day, and boot up the game again. Skipping the saving part saves time 🙂

This thread is a godsend. I’ve not TT’d in New Horizons before but today one of my partner’s villagers moved to my island and it kinda ruined my fun because I like island hopping for villagers. Now I want to TT this villager out.

Thing is, one of my villagers has a birthday at the end of this month and I don’t want to miss it. Can I TT back a month and try to TT out this villager while “in the past”?

Thanks everyone! My first time travel journey starts tonight~

Going off @sleepydreepy 's reply I'm gonna say yes but since I'm trying it out I'll let you know!

Yup, you can kick someone out while in the past. I also didn't want to TT forward and miss future events, so before I began TT'ing someone out, I TT'd back a month!

Though I'd never TT, I've got respect for those that do. The amount of patience is some next level stuff.

Usually, if you're TTing, it's for a worthwhile cause LOL. Makes it worth it when it's all done, slowly but surely.

Hey! I time travelled the first time too and used this. I found it in one of the threads long time ago and took a Screenshot in case I might need it. It helped a lot as I had no clue what to do! Maybe you can use it, good luck! 🌸

I always used to in NL, but there's nothing exciting in the game that makes me want to hurry to the next day.

Okay so I'm trying this method at the moment and things seemed to be going fine at first but... 4 days in a row the same villager is asking to move out! I'm pretty sure I'm following the instructions but I'm probably missing something ahh.
