I have two copies of the game. The first being Genovia, where I put most of my effort into. I have access to a giveaway town, so it's basically just for decorating and theming without having to work up bells etc. My second town is Curieuse (curious in french because fanciness), where I also used the giveaway town, but I also time traveled, and it took all the fun out of it since it didn't really have a theme.

I decided to restart my second town so I could play the game completely (work for bells etc.) and started a new town. I named my mayor Gidget, because it was eleven o'clock at night and I was watching an old Gidget movie, which I have a feeling will get old real-fast, and named it Curieuse again because I had no ideas. I absolutely love the layout, but I'm not a fan of the town fruit (oranges), or literally any of the villagers. I also think it would be fun to use a different town name. What do you think? Should I restart? If I do, name ideas?

In this instance I'd say no. Curieuse is a cool town name, and if you really love the layout, you'll have a hard time finding another. Plus, starters move out.

For what it's worth, I like the names Curieuse and Gidget. Starting villagers move out and you can plant any kind of fruit you want, so I wouldn't get too hung up on those things. If you really love your layout that much, I'd stick it out a little longer because a great layout is the hardest thing to replace. I'd only recommend resetting if your town and character names bother you that much, because unfortunately those can't be changed.

I would honestly give it some time to grow on you before restarting on it, especially if you like the town's layout, and because like others have said starters can move out.
If you continue to play and can't find yourself not wanting to play it because of the town fruit (cause those will have to be your perfect fruit), not finding the villagers you like naturally, or none of the names working for you, then you can reset and try to get something you might like better.

In my opinion... If the cons outweighs the pros then I'd say you should restart the town. I wouldn't keep a town if there's more of what I disliked about it than more of what I liked about it. I'm not really good with names, so I can't really help you in that department. Hope you really think about it before you make a decision with what to do with your town. Think it is best to do that in order to not have any regrets later on. I wish you luck with what you want to do in the future with your town.

It's really up to you. Personally, if the ONLY thing I liked was the layout, I'd probably restart. I've restarted for lesser reasons. But it's up to you.

If you love the layout, I say stick with it. Native fruit doesn't matter unless you plan on having a perfect fruit farm and can't stand to see your native's perfect fruit. So if you don't mind not having that, you can always chop all your orange trees down and replace them. Oranges have grown on me tbh... I really like them! Also, villagers can be shuffled out eventually. It might take a longer time if you don't time travel BUT you might also get bored if you obtain all your perfect villagers immediately! I've had some "bad" villagers grow on me... like Limberg, the grumpy mouse with that damn 5oclock shadow... I actually grew to really love him and kept him in my town for quite a while until he bugged me to move out. I also do like your town name! Good luck with whatever you choose :)

Thank you for all the comments! I decided to start a new town, I just couldn't get into it with the town name. I didn't even pay my down payment on my house (tent level haha) so I decided to restart and I love it! I kept the mayor's name Gidget, but changed my eyes and the town name to "Medfield" which is a fictional town that was used very often in old live-action Disney movies (Absent-Minded Professor, Shaggy Dog, etc.) and I even found a town layout I like more! Retail is in a corner and it's adorable, and I realized what I liked most about the other layout was mainly where my house was located -- up by the train tracks surrounded by the river! I found a spot similar, and I'm very happy with my town fruit cherries! Thank you for all of your help!

That's great. :D I hope you enjoy your new town. Cherries are also my town fruit. Didn't like it at first, but I have grown to like them. Good luck with landscaping your new town. Wish you the best. :]

That's awesome! I'm glad it worked out for you and you were able to find another layout that you love. Good luck with your new town! :)
