I want another copy of ACNL because my main town was just a big mistake but I don't want to reset it. And I was thinking a second copy would be a lot of fun but I don't know what I could do with it, I was thinking like a cycling town (Probably not, too much work), a single animal town (A cat town or wolf) or any of your suggestions?
So should? Or should I not?

I honestly feel like you shouldnt get a new copy. Unless you're planning to make one a cycling town of sorts? Even with cycling it takes up a lot of time. I really want to give people their dreamies but really, maybe it's not really worth all my time irl after all cus it takes up all my free time. I feel like I'll get bored of it even though its another town. It does require a lot of time and effort to get it going again, well unless youre a person that doesnt mind? I wanted to get a new copy too but I didnt in the end bc I have to save money for Pokemon S&M. I grew to love my town more after that decision :) I'm still bored after awhile cus it's time consuming so I'm really hoping they'll release another AC soon.

I agree with Maynlavigne, I bought a second game and got bored of it. I don't know why. Probably the thought of having to do and unlock everything again. However, it's different for everyone so you might enjoy it.

Yeah, I'm really not sure whether or not I should now. I was scared it might get boring and plus I only have one 3ds anyway but I'll just keep waiting for more advice, thank you :)

I think you should ^^
Make sure you get everything perfect in your new town so you wont regret not doing stuff like your first town!

I have two towns. Actually got my second one not long after the first as I kept getting all my fiance's villagers when they moved out. We didn't know it was by any interaction Streetpass OR linking at the time, so I felt helplessly doomed to have villagers I didn't like.
Thus I created my second town, Amestris, with the intent of both making an FMA themed town and to snatch all the movers up so I could start getting villagers I liked in my main town.
Over time, though, I've gotten a mix of villagers I like in both towns and while PPUVilla is definitely more developed, having goals for Amestris is part of what keeps me playing as I'm looking for furniture that would suit FMA themed rooms on the side.
I can say I haven't made too much progress with said rooms yet, but one day I plan to have a stronger resemblance going.

So TL;DR:
It's worth it if you have goals in mind and want to get more villagers than the current limit of 10.

Well anyone who knows me knows that I hate resetting so I just get a new cartridge. I have 7 now and they are not all active. I like having this variety and options to create completely new ideas. If anything each time I have gotten a new cartridge it makes me get excited about different things you could do with each new one not less. And if I get bored with one town I simply lock it up(stop my next mover, save and quite and no matter how long you want to take a break from that town you won't lose any villagers till you play again) and then play another town.
The reason why I am against resetting is because for me personally I spend so much time setting up that particular town that I don't want start all over. I strongly believe in working with what you have. It feels more gratifying because it challenges me to rethink on how to design things or play that particular town. It is also an addiction which is another reason why I have so many.

I have a second town and I think it's great. It's very time-consuming to run both, so if you have the time then it'll be good for you! I love more than 10 villagers so I needed a second town;;^^

It's definitely hit or miss. I got my second town like 2~ weeks ago and it's finally starting to pick up. I started it as a cycle town to gather up some TBT and help people out but decided to close it because it got really slow and unless you had a tier 1 villager it was hard to find people to adopt.

After that, I spent some time resetting for a good town map and I've finally finished expanding my house+started moving in dreamies. I have also rough drafted a town path/villager placement so I'm starting to get ideas popping in my head which is fun. It's a bit of a pain having to get all the good PWPs again and expanding T&T along with starting to complete the encyclopedia but I'm time traveling a lot right now so Im hoping it works out.

I'm tentatively considering hacking the town minimally just to move villagers to good areas/get rid of rocks so I can really go all out with the town but again it's very tentative.

oh! just adding on:
Id really only suggest getting a second copy if youre nearly finished/satisfied with how your main town is first. Otherwise, it gets put on the backburner and after a while you lose the motivation to start another town.

I really wanted a second copy of Animal Crossing, but when I got it, I barely even played it. So unless you're 100% sure that you want a new copy of Animal Crossing and that you wont just buy it, get into it the first week, then completely forget about it, like I did, then you should get it

Definitely only get a second copy if you have goals in mind. I bought a second copy and have goals on how to make my town good so it's worth it. Plus, I like more than 10 villagers so I need more room. XD

I have a second copy and really enjoy having more than one town. If I had the time I would get a third copy but I know I just won't have the time so I actually play and enjoy more than these two.

It's fun because once I get things done in my main town (which is 99% complete) I go and work on my second town. It's really fun. Maybe when I complete both towns I'll get a third unless a new game comes out lol

Oh, I'm not sure now! A lot of you say I should but I'm worried I might not have enough time, and then I don't want it to just become a waste of money

I got a second copy and so did my GF. I ended up juggling 3 towns though as she only played her main town. Two main towns can be a hassle but I think it's fun. In my case I could do paths and other designs that did not fit in my first town design slots, so that is really nice. Furthermore I could be friends with 20 animals now xD and that is great since I had a hard time choosing only 10. The third town was used to breed hybrids and expand my mayors wealth with TT for high turnip sales mwuhahahaha

To be honest, I just don't have motivation to use my second copy anymore. I had it as a cycle town for a while but the trading plaza is really slowing down and I only see it getting worse with the update. If you're planning on a second man town then sure you could go for it. I just haven't got round to doing mine properly yet, again I'm just waiting for the update and seeing what new villagers there will be. Probably wouldn't get it will the sole intention of cycling though.

But you know what's ironic? I was excited about the new update (And getting all my dreamies super fast and whatever) but then I came to the Villager Trading Plaza and got all my dreamies in 2 or 3 weeks. So the update is pretty much going to do nothing for me now.

I don't think you should. I've bought a 2nd copy and never seem to play on it. Rather reset your town and get everything perfect. A fresh start is the key to success.

Maybe a small suggestion if you intend on not buying the game.. just reset your current town asap if you really dislike it that much. Dreamies and other unlockables can be obtained later, so at least you'll feel better with something you like with a resetted town.

Ah but I have all mine now too, until they release the new lot of villagers!
It would be worth it just for the villager aspect, if you have a town full of dreamies and you find you like the new villagers you're going to either have to swap your dreamies or not experience the new ones.
Or rather than buying a new game, reset your town....and then get your villagers back. Cheaper and easier than getting a new game
