Hello everyone!
I am having a hard time deciding wether or not to spend another ?40 on a second copy of the game.
Why? Well, I have a huge list of dreamies and I am not satisfied with my town map or the placement of the campsite and the caf? but I have my town full of dreamies so I can't restart.
I am begging everyone who has a second copy to tell me if it's worth it! I am trying to save my money (I am not the best person when it comes to saving), so I just want to purchase it if it's really worth it!
Help?!

I bought a second copy because I wanted to have to different themed towns and I had too many dreamies so I could'nt just settle on ten lol :D Overall i'm happy with my choice to buy a second copy but honestly I don't really focus on my second town too much. I hate redoing everything like upgrading everything again and donating everything to the museum and things like that. But once it's on the same level my first town is I'll probably be glad that i got a second copy.

You're right... It'd be a pain to do those little things all over again. But maybe it would be worth it! ^-^

I've bought a second copy in the last 3 weeks and I'm glad I did it.
I had everything unlocked, my town's almost the way I want it landscaping wise, I just have a few more critters to catch for the museum and I've already got most of the items in the catalog in my first town. I'm spending 30 mins or less per day in LalaLand.
Then I bought the second copy, which became Zephyr. I'm spending a good hour or two, landscaping and catching critters. I even set it a couple months ahead so I have different events going on :)
Overall, I think it's a good idea - I have 19 different villagers between the two towns (Phoebe decided to randomly move in Zephyr :)

I've wanted to buy a second copy for a long time but was always hesitant to do so. But I'm more and more excited to buy it!
Maybe I should really do it! :3

I actually have 2 copies because I bought my copy of Animal Crossing in a bundle on eBay a couple of months ago. I always intended to sell the 2nd copy but never got around to it.

Now I am in the same dilemma as you :(

On the one hand, I reallyyyy want to start a 2nd town because I have so many dreamies that I want still. I am not entirely happy with my town placement, but it's not that bad either. I'm 70% happy with my town. But I also want more villagers.

On the other hand, it's the other stuff stopping me from starting a new town. I recently completed the fossil collection. I couldn't face doing that all over again :( Or collecting all the bugs, fish, deep sea diving, Redd's Paintings, waiting 3-4 months for Gracie's store to open, talking to villagers hundreds of times hoping for them to suggest PWP's, etc...

Really don't want to do that all over again. Plus, AC has completely stopped me from playing other games. I'd really like to play some other titles I bought, like Fire Emblem, Bravely Default, etc... one day and if I do another AC town... well I can forget that and may as well just sell those titles!

I went back and forth on my decision for a second copy for two months. I finally went into a Gamestop a few weeks ago, saw it pre-owned for a decent price and said to myself, "What's the worst that can happen? I don't play it much? Come on, it's Animal Crossing!"

I completely understand where you're coming from. One of the reasons that has kept me from buying it all this time is the time and patience I'll waste just upgrading everything and getting all the stuff. Ugh.

Have you ever considered buying a second-hand copy of AC:NL? That's what I did to save money. It works fine for me and I really enjoy having two towns. I can timetravel as much as I want without the risk of losing my dreamies. Doing everything over hasn't bothered me so much (yet).

Do you have a second Nintendo 3DS/2DS too? I got my second copy of AC:NL before I got my second Nintendo. It was still pretty exciting, but I got annoyed by the fact that I had to keep switching cartridges. I would rather have had a digital and physical copy of the game with one Nintendo DS than two cartridges and one console. Since I DID have physical copies only, it is no surprise I have gotten a second DS as well. :I atleast I have one 3DS and one 2DS now. I don't have two exact same consoles... I justified this that way, because I also have the Nintendo DSi and the one before that xD It's like a collection now.

After a few weeks I did notice that I started playing in my main town much less and choose to play in my second town instead. I think this is a thing most of the people with multiple copies come across.

Anyways, if you've been thinking of buying a second copy for a while now - go for it. I'd say. My boyfriend still has one copy, but I know he is jealous of me for having two :3

Well, you're right! Haha. The thing is I'm trying sooooooo hard to save my money so I really don't want to buy it to put it aside a few weeks later to never touch it again. :(

But don't you ever find that you play almost nothing else except Animal Crossing?

I have a whole bunch of games that I haven't even put in the cartridge slot, let alone play. Bravely Default, Fire Emblem, Super Mario 3D World, Professor Layton and many more (bought them cheap off on eBay!).

I think that double the AC can mean you never get around to playing other games you want too. I always worry that some of my villagers might move out if I don't see them! So I make it a habit to play at least 10 minutes. But those 10 minutes turn into, like, an hour!

I actually bought my 3DS just to play Animal Crossing (well, and Pokemon). And well, you're right. Once I "finished" Pokemon X, I never touched it again. I am not much of a gamer, to be honest. I was more into videogames when I was younger, actually! I don't know why, I guess I just don't know many videogames. I lose interest very easily! (Except for Animal Crossing. Obviously. I have been playing for almost a year and I don't think I'm stopping any time soon! >.<)

I play in my first town 15-30 mins max, then my second town no more than an hour a day - most days I'm only in my second town for 30 minutes. I found that when I started my first town, that's ALL I was doing was playing NL. I've also been playing Super Smash Bros and a couple demos (Pokemon Mystery Dungeon and Pokemon AS/OR)

Animal Crossing is the main reason I bought my 3DS as well.

I was actually planning on buying the new3DS for my other games, and keeping my current 3DS as my 'Animal Crossing Playing Device'. I was always use the suspend feature so I can quickly load up AC anyway. Like you, I don't think i will stop playing anytime soon either!

I'm happy with my 3DS, I honestly don't need another! :)
That would be a waste of money for me!

Doooo ittt! I bought a used copy a while ago and am so glad I did. I was worried at first that I would end up focusing on one town and letting the other go to ****, but I actually play them both equally and love every second of it. I have my main town, where I do everything in real-time, put effort into design, get to know the villagers, etc, then my second where I jump around and just have fun. Highly recommended!

Although it does make me really want a second 3DS so I could have both towns open at the same time. Alas, there's no way I could justify that purchase. Desperately trying to get my boyfriend to buy one for himself so I can borrow it. XD

Ahhhhh ;_; I really really want to! Believe me!
ARGH I hate making decisions! *sigh*
Hahaha how I understand you!

I hope you good luck in finding your decision of buying another copy or not c: I was also in the same dilemma. I really wanted a new town with new villagers because 10 was obviously not enough for me. I was lucky in not paying a penny for my second copy since I had a friend and they gave me their copy. yet even when if I have 2 towns now I want another. but when I think of the struggles of transferring your items I back out. remember if you don't want to waste so much money on another copy you can buy a used one and so many people do it that it can save you some dollars (:

Thank you! This weekend I may visit a gaming store that usually sells second-hand video games in a very good condition! :3

Why are you even contemplating it, still?! Doooo ittt!
Give in to the deliciously satisfying time trap that is a second town. Hehe (●?ω`●)
