Shop upgrade question

I am trying to upgrade the Nook;lings' store to T and T Emporium as soon as I can, but I had a question. When upgrading, does the game look at the day the shop opened and get a preset date for the upgrade, or does it count individual days? WHat I am basically wondering is if I can go back to the actual irl date, then TT ahead 21 days to get TIY, or do I just have to TT 21 days ahead from where I am?

You only need to TT 21 days from where you are now, although I do not recommend it at all. It's dangerous TT more then 1 day at a time because of villagers and plants and whatnot. Just ride it out day to day. What I did to get the upgrades faster was buy everything in the store everyday for like a week. You have to have spent 70,000 to get Gracie to show up, and then you need four of her approvals, which is easy once you get her once because when you complete her check the first time you TT back to 5:59am the SAME day and then wait for it to 6:00am and then she'll be there again.

Are the bells that need to be spent cumulative or just for the upgrade?
