So Wart Jr. pinged me telling me he is going to be hopping on out of my town, which is great, because he's creepy and his house is where I want to put my cafe. The 1st time he pinged me, he tried to change his mind, so I turned the game off without saving, thus losing my Petaltail Dragonfly in the process. But Wart Jr moving is more important right now to me than a dragonfly. Anyways, I turn my game back on, he pings me again this time he decides to leave. I save the game right after to seal the deal.

Now for reasons unknown, I am being chased around town, constantly being pinged by him, and I always run becauee I don't want him to change his mind about moving. And he's lurking too. Like I don't even see him on my screen, but he sees me. He could be lurking behind a tree or a house or another villager!

Does this happen to anyone else? When a villager you want gone, decides to leave but they start constantly pinging you afterwards?

Yes it happens and they might change their mind. It's better just to ignore him until he moves away.

I'm still trying to get Goldie to leave. She did the exact same things as Wart Jr. and ended up staying the first time. So the second time I heard rumors, I decided not to talk to her at all and she never moved. Next time I'm going to reset until she says yes and then stop playing until she is in boxes. If that doesn't work, I don't know what else I will have to resort to.

Oh yeah, he's getting ignored. He keeps trying to chase me but I run like heck the other way lol

Yeah I think you have to talk to her when you hear rumors about her moving. I think you have to hear the villager tell you themselves that they are moving. Then afterwards you ignore them until they are in boxes. I too tried the never speaking to them at all trick when I heard moving rumors with Cranston back in Ossipri and he never moved, thus causing the Great Cranston Grudge of 2017 which continues to this day.

Don't worry: Once you get ping once about the move-out, and accept doing so, any other pings they do won't be about them moving out. It is only when you talk to them directly might they talk about it and possibly change their minds.

Oh, but note that if you have alt characters, they will ping each alt once to say they'll move out. But every other ping is safe afterwards.

yeah, it's happened to me with o'hare (who i wanted to give to my friend) and chops (who just kinda sucks). i save scummed both times.
although, now that i think about it, i'm not sure that sort of thing is limited to pings. i think they just brought up moving in a conversation and the options that were like "uhhhh good luck haha" and "NO!!!!!" came up...maybe it's best for you to just ignore him altogether?

here's what i think happened: wart jr. tested your faith by announcing his move out. when you agreed to it, he sort of didn't register it until later. but because reality prevents him from staying at this point, he's desparate to trick you into the game mechanics that allow him to change his mind.

I hated this so much, I started time traveling to their moving date to avoid beinf pinged. I was just SO TIRED of these flaky animals deciding to stay after all.

Oh okay. I didn't know that. Ill keep that in mind. Thank you. Yeah Im trying to avoid another Cranston situation because you saw how that turned out. Ossipri got erased out of annoyance.

Yeah, I dont start a conversation with villagers who are moving. I avoid them altogether. I didnt even know them pinging you afterwards wasnt about them moving. This game is a troll major. It will stick villagers in your town that you dont' want, and never make them leave, but villagers you do want will keep trying to leave. It's extremely annoying. LOL I like your theory and knowing the way this game works, I wouldnt be surprised if its' true.

This game is a troll. Seriously its like it knows you dont want that villager so it trolls you by making them stay anyways even though you want them gone. Especially the ones who say they want to say to better their friendship with you. I will treat them so coldly and ice them out so bad, it will make a polar bears behind jealous, there will not be a friendship lol.

Had to laugh, HT. The picture of you running from that little toad is hilarious. Never saw anyone who got more out of NL than you ;D. Thanks, makes this forum entertaining.

This gives you the option of being able to keep a beloved villager who may have pinged already or been planning to move. I think having this bit of a safety net is a wonderful thing. If it bothers you so much, avoid his side of town or TT to the day after his moving day. Problem solved :)
