The internet seems to imply the giant isopod is catchable in October, but I've caught more than eight Venus' Flower Baskets and many, many Lobsters, but still no isopod. 400k bells worth of diving tonight, and I'm beginning to wonder if I'm just having horrible luck, or if I'm mistaken. Are they really that rare?

Just keep trying.
They are still around in october in the NH.

Times: 9am to 4pm, 9pm to 4am. :)

I caught one this morning, so they're still out there. I was hoping it'd be one of the other fast ones because those are the ones I'm missing.

Have you tried the mystery island too? Sometimes I like to go diving there when I can't find what I need on my own island (plus it feels easier to swim around lol). You could also try a friend's island that has a higher spawn rate. For example, I'm kind of the opposite to you: I've caught a few giant isopods throughout October and past months but I haven't seen a single venus flower basket yet. Thankfully I already caught one at a friend's SH island a couple months ago, but I'm guessing those in particular have a very low spawn rate on my own island.

Amazingly, I posted yesterday that I couldn't find a Venus Flower Basket after about 2 hours worth of diving, but I caught about 2/3 Isopods during my swim. Pretty much I was picking up everything except the Flower Basket...

Whelp, let it be known that I caught the isopod on my 527th dive....... Thanks for the tips, guys lol
