Second character on a digital copy?

My friend said she tried to make a second character but she can't because she got a digital copy D: I was planning on making multiple characters too but I also have digital! Do I have to have the physical for this to work? Or multiple digital copies for each profile? How does this work?? I thought that as long as the switch has the game, all users have access to it?

Okay thank you. That's what I thought. And I think she figured out the issue too XD I just kind of panicked. Thank goodness because I had plotted everything out for where my new house was going to go..
