Sea Bass???

I never thought I'd hear myself say this after New Leaf, but how in the heck do you catch a sea bass in this game? Did Nintendo make them extra rare or something? All I've been pulling out of my ocean so far is Water Eggs.

sea bass are always appearing for me but i'm also getting eggs at the moment, after the event they should start showing up more often
