Scary Minecraft monsters x.X

I couldn't find a Minecraft PC thread, so sorry for making a new thread for this. If there's one please link me to it so I can post this there. ^^

I recently convinced my dad to let me use his credit card to buy Minecraft for PC (I play the Mac version, but that doesn't matter right now ^^). After giving him my 27$ and getting the game, I started to play it right away.

I was surprised because this game is really, really different to the Pocket Edition, which I have been playing for a few months. From the worlds to features, the computer one is just so complete.

But good things cannot come alone. Today I was playing, putting animals in barn things I made and building tiny houses. I put torches everywhere to prevent mean monsters to appear nearby and they happened to do a good job keeping them away. But then I was going to my house and all of a sudden a big black creature (it must have been taller than average monsters - I think I calculate 3 blocks tall), standing on top of my wood house. I was actually so creeped out I closed the game in a rush and my heart was beating fast. It wasn't even night in my world. I know this sounds silly, but the truth is that I get scared very easily when really unexpected things happen. And yes, zombie sounds scare my soul away every single time x.X. But I can deal with them.

Anyway, I was trying to google things like "minecraft black monster", "minecraft shadow monster" and none of the queries told me what this monster was. So two questions:

1) What was it? It looked like it had tall legs and it was kinda looking down.
2) Is there a way to "disable" it in the game? I'm currently playing in Peaceful mode but I like to play it in Easy, as I can deal with a few zombies and whatnot. I just never ever want to encounter this ugly creature ever again hahaha.

Oh, and a tiny different question: Is there a way to disable the need to eat? Minecraft Pocket Edition doesn't need you to eat to survive, and even if it's a videogame I feel weird slaying innocent animals for food...

I suffer from mobophobia too! I am always so freaking scared to go in caves...
 
That was an enderman. They won't attack you unless you look at it, so don't put your cursor anywhere on it's body! They're very strong. The best way to kill them is to keep yourself under a two block high roof so they can't get to you.

And no, there's no real way to disable Endermen or hunger. There could be mods that do that but you might need to figure out how to do it from YouTube video explanations. Try googling "Minecraft No Hunger Mod" and "Minecraft Endermen Disabler"

If you don't like slaying animals, try farming wheat and making bread.

Enderman aren't really a problem as long as you do not look them directly in the eyes for more than 3 seconds. If you see one, just walk away. I like to live in villages and sleep during the night to minimize monster spawn. ^_^
 
^ That creature was an enderman. They can pick up certain blocks, and if you look at them they will kill you. Unless you have like an iron armor and a diamond sword <3.

You can go on Peaceful mode if the mobs bother you too much. You don't lose hunger during Peaceful either.

Yup! The first time I went into a cave, I heard the zombie sound, but the sound had a weaker sound to it, and to my surprise it WAS a zombie, but a smaller one and it moved so fast, I couldn't get away from it. I was just getting used to the controllers and it scared my poor soul away -.- . I still go into caves, but I make sure I have at least a stone sword and some armor.

Also when I saw squids for the first time I was scared because they have the same feature of Endermen, except they live on water. I spent like 30 minutes wondering if they were hostile until I just decided to jump into the water. Thankfully they aren't x.x

Enderman... It reminds me of Slenderman and the first time I saw Slenderman on a website it scares me too hahaha. Thanks for answering that ^^ so they are only hostile if you look at them? I will try to put my game on Easy again and if I found one I will try to walk past it to beat my fears... But I'm clumsy when using a mouse.

I can farm weat make bread? :O thank you for that! I will see how to do it. The crafting system is much more complex than the Pocket Edition but thankfully I have the internet. ^^

Also, there are villages? Like villages with people? Wow that's just so different than PE. How can I find one?

I'm currently playing on Peaceful now but I like playing on Easy. It makes exploring a bit more interesting as long as I am not getting brutally killed hahaha.
 
Villages are often found in plains or desserts, the villagers look like squidward (long noses, lol).
Endermen will become aggressive if you look at it's face or hit it, but it can be damaged by water too, which makes it pretty funny if one spawns outside when it's raining :p
 
Sounds like you would have liked beta 1.7 and earlier better ^_^ the worlds were better and there was no sprinting, hunger, or nasty endermen which are a death sentence if you don't have iron armor, and in that case, they are still very dangerous. Also, take note that they run at you, disappear, and appear again behind you. They can teleport wherever once they become hostile and will teleport as soon as you hit them. Also, if they take damage in any other way. Water and daylight also damage endermen.

So glad you took the jump to PC edition, it just has so much more to offer and minecraft pocket edition simply isn't a complete game, especially because of the lack of caves. I mean, come on, the game is centered around MINING and the game was called Cave Game before it was released to the public in 2009... I heard caves are staying out of minecraft PE, at least for awhile because of lag issues, since it makes the worlds much much more complex. :/

On a side note, I have severe fears of monsters when I play this game by myself. If I am playing multiplayer, especially when I am talking to the other person on Skype or Google Hangouts, I am not nearly as scared. When they randomly disappear in a cave and I am left alone I get terrified though :( I am not bad at fighting monsters, so it's not that I die a lot from them, it's just that the feeling of possibly looking to one side to see one in my face horrifies me. Actually, I am very good at PVP and fighting monsters, but their presence just unsettles me. D:

I'm pretty sure daylight only damages skeletons and zombies?

Yep, that was an Endermen. If you go onto the options screen, you can change your difficulty to peaceful. That disabled hunger and hostile mobs.
You can also farm potatoes and carrots, melons, and pumpkins, and more!

They added Chicken jockeys. Prepare for nightmares. ._.
On a happier note, in the nether, I saw a zombie pigman baby riding a chicken.
I died so bad. It was hilarious.
