Save data CORRUPTED

I'm utterly upset, I just came back to my AC:NL game yesterday after quite a long break and I was having fun on AC:NL yesterday. Now today it had looked all normal, then it had said that the save data is corrupted and has to be deleted??? Really? After all my hard work and effort and all these valuable things I had gotten, ALL GONE.

I am so upset and I have no idea what to do. Should I just leave it or just start a new file? I really wish this didn't happen as I really did put so much effort and time into my town.

What do you guys think I should do?

If you want to keep playing ACNL, you'll have to restart. It sucks, but it is actually fairly common.

I actually have been looking at this site for a while on things for my AC:NL and such like guides, so when this situation just happened today I thought about trying to see what I should do about my game. Like if I should leave it or not. Is it not okay to just post about this with an account I just made to see what others think what I should do about my game? :/

its totally fine hun, we just had an issue where someone lied about their saved data being corrupted and made a few people upset

Seriously, why are data corruptions very common? Are the factories keep messing up, or is it the SD cards that are low quality. I'm thinking that the easily corrupted towns is like the Red Ring of Death. I think there is some problem that's causing many data corruptions.

I honestly thought it was a rare occurrence, though someone told me your chances of it happening are somewhat higher if you own a digital copy. Seem to see it more and more often on these forums.
I swear I live in fear of this happening to me.

Really? I didn't know it was a common occurrence. I have a question. I bought my 3DS just for ACNL. Because I never remove the game, does it lessen my chances of corruption?

That's such a stupid thing to lie about, honestly! I don't know why people would just lie about that, maybe to get free stuff from other people, I don't know. I just really wanted to figure out what I should do about my situation, not get free stuff or anything of the sort . And if anybody needs proof of what happened, they can just ask me!

My intention of this post was not to get free stuff from other people, but to see if anybody can give me any tips on what I should do now and what they think of this! Thanks for understanding .

I don't think it does sadly. I barely remove the game unless I really wanted to play my other 3ds games.

Or maybe, you're using an older 3DS system. The more you use something, the more you can wear something out.

Data corruptions could be as common as the RRoD on the Xbox 360.

I'm afraid there's really nothing you can do. You can't access your old town at all, so everything you had is gone. If you're not up to restarting just yet, maybe take a little break and come back when you're feeling a bit less broken-hearted?

It is super common with ACNL, but I say that in comparison to other digitally downloaded games. I would say you probably have a very small chance at a corruption due to a cartridge issue if it never leaves, but there are still things internally with the game that can cause corruption. As long as you don't do those, it should be fine.

I fear for this happening to my town too. People just don't understand how much effort we all put into our towns
