i wish this was possible. i was let down at first that we couldn't, seeing as it's a different item from flooring, i thought we could. it would save me from qr code slots.

ugh PLEASE yes i was so upset when i found out you couldn't put rugs outside! especially the vinyl sheet rugs which would be perfect for picnic rugs and the wooden deck rugs. i ended up saving this design lookalike of the colorful vinyl sheet so that i could make my own dang picnic spot

I would love to place some picnic blankets for camping areas or rugs for outdoor library areas but alas it's not possible as of yet

I really hope that one day we could do this! It would free up so many custom design slots! And think about how cool the shell/mermaid stuff would look on the beach!
100% yes. These would let me spice up so many different areas of my island that look a bit bland right now, i'd honestly use these everywhere I could fit them. The circular shaped rugs would also be very nice so that all my flooring isn't just a square (I don't use any custom design flooring currently) and I can already imagine making a little spooky summoning circle using the magic circle rugs. Also, I feel like some rugs were even designed to be put outside villagers houses, like the iron entrance mat! The fact you literally can't put an 'entrance mat' at the entrance of a house is just really stupid imo. Also I could make a red carpet entrance from my airport, oml this thread just gave me so many ideas that I can't use because no rugs outside ;-;

what a coincidence! i posted this thread with this in mind LOL. i just don't have the room for it anymore in my house but i know a place outdoor (the beach) where i would love to set it.

Yes! I'm making some new beach areas and I was so disappointed I couldn't put them outside. They'd be perfect. Oh well!

given that you could do this in HHD (and pocket camp), i really don't understand why they then removed the feature in their next main series title -- especially since they carried over the interior design mechanics. then again, i don't understand why they removed the ceiling-mounted furniture either, or the ambiance + curtain/blind options, when they clearly already had the assets so.

i feel like i played that for a week, or maybe i didn't try setting the rugs outside? though i have a foggy memory that there were rugs that acted like paths.yeah, so weird that we can't if we could before.
Rugs outside would be amazing. Outside customisation feels a bit too limited imo, I also really wish wall mounted furniture could go on cliff edges or panels/fences. The wedding day wall flowers would look amazing in my outdoor cafe area.

Honestly, it doesn't make sense to me that we can't put rugs outside. The vinyl rug is perfect for outdoors, and we only have so much space in our houses. If you've finished decorating your house and aren't looking for a specific rug, what's the point in buying from Saharah? Plus, rugs are a great way to define space, so they would be great for all of the little parks and libraries and picnics and cafes that creative people have designed on their islands.
