Roses or carnations?

Roses, carnations are to thin looking to me, but I'll use it for certain things.

I prefer carnations, because I like them a bit more then roses.

In real life I prefer roses (especially the old fashioned kind) over carnations any day. In NL though I like them both pretty evenly, for different reasons. Roses for the colours, carnations for the "look". Though, I actually often mix them up. They are very similar compared to the other types of flowers available. The differences between them are noticeable when looking, of course, and I vastly prefer the look of the carnations when I'm paying attention.

I think using both together, particularly in the one colour, would look lovely. I'll have to try that myself when I can get some more carnations growing!

@Artistra So I'm trying to plant flowers all around my town. My town's color scheme is red and white, but I can't decide between roses or carnations. So far the roses seem to be working, but they seem larger and bulkier than the carnations. Maybe that's just me. But if you had to make a decision between roses or carnations, which would you choose? Maybe some opinions can help me. Feel free to use real world experiences/observations if you'd like c:

carnations look better than roses in terms of pattern. i love the details of the carnation and is it just me or do is the pink carnation a lighter shade than the pink roses?

Carnations are prettier for me personally, but roses have more variety. I'd love to see more colors for carnations. Lavender would look super cute and a light yellow would be cute as well. Sky blue carnations would be nice to see. Maybe next AC game.

Why not both? If you put both together, they make a very nice combination.

I like carnations for the red/white pink areas but I love my blue and purple roses

When compared as a whole, I prefer the roses because there's more colors.

But if you're comparing the red and white versions of both flowers, carnations are the way to go.

Roses. I think they're a more solid red, in my opinion, especially once you've watered the carnations.
