I have seriously considered returning to ACNL. Like some, I stopped playing when ACNH was released. Why would I return to an older game? It's simple, though there are some things I like about ACNH, the cons far outweigh the pros. And because of my limited game time playing both isn't an option.
So, have any of you decided to return to your earlier AC games?
I have mainly returned to nl to finish my critter encyclopedia and badges but it’s very sporadic. I have more fun on new horizons even though the furniture options are limited.
I am actually buying a large 3DSXL off of a friend and I've been considering picking up another copy of ACNL. That way I can get some of the badges easier for my town and I can work on having two different aesthetics and layouts in that game.
I've played NL a few years back and never really got into it because it's a game that I needed to invest a lot of time on. I restarted my town a few weeks ago and I've been playing it on and off ever since. Only problem is probably the graphics, my eyes really hurt after playing for a few hours. Gotta say that there are so many features that NH is missing from the old games.
I've been considering returning to NL. I have 2 copies of NL and I don't want to erase my town that has all of my items. I don't own many amiibo and I managed to trade for all of the amiibo items, as well as all of the DLC. Don't want to deal with all of that again. But I CAN delete my secondary town, as it was just really for fun anyways. It has been over a year since I last touched NL. It would be interesting to see how it feels now post-NH.
I will say though that, while some things about NL are better than NH (more furniture, better holidays, etc), I absolutely will miss the terraforming and sheer amount of outdoor-related customization that exists in NH. I will also miss the instant and previewable in-game furniture customization.
I've been playing ACNL for the last ... month or so? And it's been fun building up my town in that game (I had recently restarted my town last time I played so it was mostly a blank slate)
One QOL thing I do like about ACNH is that your town doesn't rly go to h*ck when you stop playing for a while. So I can afford to only check in there when I feel like it.
Also, I started a gamecube town yesterday! Not sure how seriously I'll keep up with that one, since I know juggling multiple towns quickly falls apart once things get busy for me lol. But I haven't played the game since I was a kid so I wanted to see how much I remember about "meaner villagers" etc is true. So far I have been called ugly and stupid, and I've been threatened by a cranky villager. I'm having a blast
well ofc. I always return to my older AC games. I've never abandoned them. especially my town on AC:GCN, I still play that one fairly regularly (for my standards anyways).
now I don't play them very often; for instance, since I started my freshman year of college 3 years ago I think I've only played New Leaf maybe 4-5 times. but I've never completely abandoned it. I honestly couldn't imagine putting so much effort into a town and villagers and then just forgetting about it all when the next game comes out
I go back every week or so and check on my gamecube town. It's pretty much the only animal crossing game
besides new horizons that I can play nowadays since my city folk disc got scratched beyond repair. I can't play new leaf or wild world either because I get migraines from playing ds. Those towns are probably full of weeds. It's pretty jarring going from one game to the other because both are so different.
I've been thinking of starting a fresh GC file. I miss the little special events and having to work extra hard for what you want. I feel like they made it significantly easier in the newer games, which is fine, but it's just a different vibe.
Most importantly, I miss crankies being actually cranky/mean rather than boomers and snooties being actual Regina Georges. It was hilarious to me.
I'm playing NL and NH simultaneously rn! I appreciate a lot about both games, the freedom of NH to customise everything about your island is great, as are the increased custom spaces and clothing options, but I love the villagers, characters, and furniture of NL more.
I kind of definitely prefer the older music, particularly the GameCube OST. However, that being said, I won't often play the older games anymore. I'll occasionally check in to Let's Go To The City, Wild World, and New Leaf, but not often. It's just strange playing a complete polar opposite season when I return to the older games. (I live in the Southern Hemisphere.)
